Nice hotel though for me the rating would be closer to 3.5* rather than 5*. Food was very good, room was clean though a little tired - nothing spectacular. Casino is a little tacky, though it is not my thing anyway. Waiting staff very very good; reception staff not very friendly or helpful. We enquired about seeing their beach but were dismissed out of hand: "It is closed." We only wanted to see it! Drinks in the hotel were very expensive - hence we didn't drink there. Currency exchange rates were... more
I stayed at the Malpas for a business trip and found the standard of the rooms and general appearance of the hotel to be excellent. The cleanliness was superb and the food at the hotel had plenty of variety. The service at the hotel was superb.I would recommend to others, although the only points which I think needed improving were the wi fi which had a terrible signal strength even though I had paid for so called high speed internet access. The drinks in the bar, at dinner and minibar were expensive,... more
A beautifully appointed hotel in an ideal setting with good food and excellent, friendly service. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and the extensive grounds was outstanding. Superb, well cooked buffet meals in a great variety were always fresh and appetising. We stayed at the hotel for a week over the New Year period, when, for most of the time, the hotel was very busy puting the staff under a great deal of pressure, yet they were always chearful, with a ready with a smile.... more
I booked my holiday at malpas expecting a better service,i asked over the phone what the entertainment would be at new year and was told it was fahti urek.when i got to the hotel i was told sorry but your not booked in for that entertainment,i was dissapointed as i had spoke with a lady called deniz previously regarding this.On around the 30th of december i recieved an invatation about the programe of fahti urek in my room 418.I then took it to reception and said look i must have a revervation for... more
The Malpas hotel is a very impressive place to stay at but it isn't quite a 5 star European standard. It turned out to be a fantastically clean and well run place with very friendly staff and clearly a caring management. This is the second time we've been here and both times we ate in regularly and the food was a high standard and we were especially happy and pleased with the high standards of hygiene in the food areas. There is also a casino on the complex and non residents flock in by the droves... more
We stayed at the Malpas 1/2 board special deal for 10 days mid December while furnishing our apartment. We must first say how great the staff are, efficient and very helpful but not in your face. The food was good considering it was buffet and if you like bacon with your eggs at breakfast just ask the chef, who cooks the fried eggs and does a great omelettes.Rooms large but a bit tired. Bar prices and wine at dinner way too expensive compared to other restaurants and bars we visited. The health... more
If you expect "5 stars" in your normal standard... You will probably get disappointed. You can not even compare with other real 5 star hotels in other countries. They could get 4 stars, but not 5 stars. Service does not deserve 5 stars, either. Front Desk Staff are not very helpful. However, what we actually got worth the price, or more than worth the price. Other 5 star hotels cannot be this reasonable. The food was great.... more
We stayed here for 8 nights ,as my villa is nearly finished ,so not exactly for a holiday. We found our stay very good there is a very nice bar just off reception very well laid out and very laid back where they have live music in the evening, there is a pool table in there .The food is very very good and so flavourfull ,a very large choice is on offer and there is a chef out front who you can ask to prepare dishes for you or you can just help yourself to what is laid out.he is also there at breakfast... more
We visited Malpas on a group information trip one of many in and around Kyrenia. The instant x factor when you entered the hotel, and the standard of rooms and services, beat many 5 star hotels we have already visited on this trip. We had an extensive dinner and service of the hotel was impecable, right down to the services and staff. The piano bar and the evening atmosphere were superb, brilliant for honeymooners to very romantic. The pools laid out in front and the annexes and family accommodation... more
This is an excellent hotel for the money. The staff were friendly and helpful, on reporting a problem with our safe a member of the maintenance team had fixed it within 40 minutes. Our room was not overly large but adequate, all used toiletries were replaced on a daily basis. The choice of food was superb though the temperature of some meals could have been improved; the food at the pool snack bar was very good and reasonably priced. The pool was large with plenty of loungers and the area was... more
I thought the hotel was very good value bthe staff were very good if only they could speek english. We also asked for egg and bacon and was told the chef will not cook bacon because of the swine flu. We left the breakfast menu on the door for early morning tea/coffee it was still there in the morning. Also the mini bar was not restocked all small things but why should you have to complain before it gets done. To serve yourself for tea/coffee at b reakfast for a 5 star hotel is not correct when... more
When my partner said he had booked a hotel with a casino in North Cyprus for our summer holiday, I wasn't very keen. However, the Malpas turned out to be an excellent 5 star hotel, way above my expectations, and a real find for a good value holiday in June. The sun shone, the pool was nearly empty, there were sunbeds to spare, the staff had time to chat AND make sure you got a cold drink when you asked, and the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. The pool area is raised up so you get good views... more
Thank you for your enquiry about our recent stay at the above hotel. I was about to write to you on that very subject. We actually booked the hotel as a result of a recommendation from friends who stayed there last year. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed in what was supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Firstly, their Coffee maker packed up the on the first day and the day we left a man was still trying to repair it, so people were only getting just coffee. and all hot drinks had to be made... more
We stayed at the Malpas Hotel Catalkoy. The hotel lives up to its 5 star rating in all respects with the exception of the evening meal, whilst the food is presented well there is a lack of variety, although I am looking at this with English eyes so this is just my opinion. In the main the hotel is very good, the facilities, pool, bar, rooms etc are excellent, although the alchoholic drinks are very expensive, the equivalent of about £8 a pint of local lager, wine is approx £4 a glass with spirits... more
A great five star hotel, offering well appointed rooms, its public facilities were also very good and dining was great (food is buffet style). My wife and I stayed in an annex room, surrounded by a beautiful garden with fantastic sea and mountain views. Car parking was plentiful (due to the lack of public transport we would recommend hiring a car). The hotel swimming pools provided plenty of space to relax in and were well attended by staff whose aim was to help; this was complemented by a casual... more
We stayed here after I got a great deal on the internet. The rooms were very clean, food was good, and pool is wonderful!A good location if you want to visit Turtle Beach,as its outside Kyrenia.I would book this hotel every time if we went back again. It was a bit of a walk to the main hotel but the rooms were bigger in the annex so I didnt complain!Staff always happy to help with any queries.Hire care through hotel was great!A brand new one!(Pacific)... more
on arrival, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked but there would be a room available the next day. arrangements had been made for us to stay overnight at a nearby hotel and we were assured that it was of the same standard. It was not, for although the pool area was pleasant, the restaurant area was tired and dingy, and the accommodation had a very small bathroom with only just enough room for a sink, lavatory and shower, and badly needed to be updated and decorated. we were offered the... more
Lovely hotel and adequate parking, we arrived and was taken to our room by a very helpful man from reception. We have relations who live in North Cyprus and would definately stay at the hotel again. If I could state what we didn't like it would be that the pool was too cold and that we would have liked a public telephone as the telephone calls in the room were expensive... even though we were phoning a number in North Cyprus. The food was good and a good choice.... more
we stayed at the Malpas Hotel for 10 days in April, the food and service was excellent, in particular the young guy who takes care of the pool, chairs etc, the reception was always helpful and the rooms are immaculate, we was speaking to another guest who had used the treatment area ands she was very disappointed as to the working order of a lot of the equipment and complained about the pool being cold on several occasions, i think our main observation is that the drinks are very much overpriced,... more
Arrived and was located a room overlooking the car-park, asked if this could be changed and was told that if we could sit and have a drink another room would be prepared for us. We returned an hour later to be told by another receptionist very aggresively that there were no other rooms available. Having waited an hour after a long journey we were not happy. A room was found in the annexe which was fine but more inconvenient for the spa and gym facilities which we were using twice a day. I felt... more
The Malpas is very well situated in a small village outside Kyrenia. This five star facility is everything I was expecting and more. The rooms, reception area, bars and restaurants are very well serviced and maintained to a high standard. I particularly enjoyed the pool area and the generous nature of staff to ensure that every detail from towels, to drinks, to umbrella were made available during the course of the day. My stay of 3 nights was most enjoyable with evening entertainment, a good... more
Firstly I tend to believe the hotel on the third floor issue (see other reviews) it was a full house while we stayed but the the top floor was out of action.Smart new well designed and furnished block. Great views of the sea. The cost of drinks is not out of place for a high end hotel (see other reviews £5 per glass, £25 bottle of wine). Food is buffet style, various bands during the week doing good cover versions of 60s classics.Outdoor pool is unheated, but lots of loungers and towels. Small... more
Lovely hotel, good food, good service but drinks so expensive. We spent more time out of the hotel in other nearby restaurants and bars where we could both eat and drink for the evening for less than the cost of 1 bottle of wine from the hotel. The facilities were excellent, the rooms were lovely and the standard of service was very good.As it was early in the season there was a little bit of cosmetic improvements being carried out. The small paddling pool was being tiled during the whole time we... more
I was due to go to North Cyprus with my husband and our 6 year old daughter. It was her first ever trip abroad so we wanted to make it as special as possible. We read the reviews about the Malpas Hotel and immediately thought that it was the right place to stay. About a week before our departure, I received a phone call and was told that unfortunately there had been some problems with flooding at the Malpas and it was best to transfer to another hotel. This came as such an utter shock to us; we'd... more
I booked a holiday with Cyprus Premier to stay for a week at the Malpas Hotel with family and friends this April. We chose the Malpas after a recommendation from friends who had visited, as well as the glowing reviews it received on this site and TripAdvisor. Everything was running smoothly and we were thoroughly looking forward to the holiday until two days before, when we received a phone call stating that we would have to move to another hotel. We were told that the third floor of the Malpas... more
My brother and I have just returned from the Malpas Hotel after travelling to Cyprus for a family wedding. We are originally from Cyprus ourselves but left as young children so we were very excited about a chance to get back to our roots. As it was a last minute booking we didnt have much time to look around for hotels so we made our booking on the recommendation of a family member. We arrived early in the morning and we immediately noticed how fantastic the sea views were. We were even more surprised... more
We enjoyed a post Xmas break at the Malpas Hotel, and very much enjoyed our stay, thanks to kind staff, a well-kept modern hotel and some very welcome sunshine. We knew from looking at the hotel's reviews in advance that it was out of town, so we hired a car at the airport (Ercan) and actually used it more than we originally thought. January is certainly not pool or beach weather, and a car meant we could explore more of North Cyprus, as the roads were virtually empty of other tourist traffic. Our... more
I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend last November. We booked a last minute luxury break and everything was a dream. The hotel is the nicest place I have ever stayed, truly 5-star. The rooms are HUGE with tasteful décor and luxurious touches such as the uplighters and the computer desk. We had a lovely balcony with breathtaking views of the mountains and glimpses of the sea. The marble bathroom was unbelievable, with his n' hers sinks and a separate bath and shower, and luxury toiletries. My... more
I have to recommend this hotel wholeheartedly for giving us a wonderful romantic break. The exclusive atmosphere, and beautiful rooms made every minute a pleasure. Although there were over 170 rooms, the hotel was so peaceful and hushed. The Spa was top notch with a Turkish bath, steam room and impressive fitness room. The Jacuzzi would have graced any top London hotel, and the restaurant was a wonderful culinary experience. There was even a cigar shop and a jewelers on site. You generally get what... more
We booked the Malpas Hotel for a week, and wished we had booked longer! Despite initial concerns that it might be more a casino than a hotel, we were impressed with the quality and cleanliness. The bathroom was clean and in good order, which can't be said of every hotel bathroom we've seen in North Cyprus. The friendly staff always made time to talk to us 'old folk', and the buffet food was excellent. We really didn't need our hire car, as we only drove into Kyrenia a couple of times for a meal,... more
My husband, I, and my two teenage boys stayed at Malpas Hotel for a week. This was not our first trip to Kyrenia. We stayed at other hotels, but found them lacking. We found the hotel to have some bad reviews, but the hotel was nothing like the reviews we read. Instead we were given a free upgrade on our first night. The food was always varied and very tasty. As a vegetarian I still found plenty to eat. Our lovely double room looked over the pool and sea. We also had a separate room for... more
We booked the Malpas as a five star hotel but were very disappointed when we arrived to discover building work in progress, which started early in the morning. We were woken up by the noise of the builders hammering and banging and shouting. Then the next night we were woken by others 'guests' returning to their rooms around 3am after a night in the casino, slamming doors, turning on their tvs loud, etc. After two interrupted nights and two mornings of builders noise, which continued all day, we... more
Took the kids to North Cyprus for a half term break last October, and chose the Malpas mainly for its heated indoor pool. Was really pleased to discover just how good the hotel was. Staff were very welcoming to my two 'little horrors'. Kids loved the pools which were linked by a bridge, and ate platefuls at the enormous buffet breakfasts. Hired a car for the week and glad I did - meant we could get out and explore beyond the hotel grounds. Kids enjoyed Buffavento castle, Kyrenia harbour (due to... more
My wife and I have just returned from a two week holiday in the North of Cyprus where we booked a stay at the Malpas Hotel. I initially researched the hotel online and found some very positive and encouraging reviews, not to mention some extraordinary scenery pictures. My wife loves the great outdoors and with the Maplas overlooking the five finger mountain ranges I thought this to be the perfect holiday retreat. We arrived early in the day and were very pleased to be met with extremely pleasant... more
Stayed at the Malpas last September for a late holiday for me and my boyfriend. Had a sea view room which was fab, and we spent ages just sitting in the sunshine and drinking beers! Pool was big and empty when we were there; can't imagine it being too crowded even in summer. Drinks were expensive unless you had beer. Breakfast was great - loads to eat so you didn't need lunch. North Cyprus has lots to do, so long as you don't expect it to be 24/7 party like Aiya Napa or anything. We found some cool... more
The Malpas is a really great hotel if you just want to chill out and relax. I spent most of my summer break here soaking up the sun by the pool. Hubby spent most of the time in the shade with a cool beer 'resting his eyelids'! The Spa, Wellness and Beauty Centre was good, with a nice sauna (mixed, so take your towel), Turkish bath and steam room. Treatments were reasonably priced (seen cheaper, paid higher), and my classic full body massage very relaxing. Our room was comfortable and had a sea view,... more
My friend and I stayed at the Malpas Hotel in August. It was fantastic. We booked the hotel because another friend's parents recommended it for our trip to Cyprus. We stayed for 5 days, and did not have any problems. The view from the hotel was magnificent and the food at the breakfast buffet always warm. The beer was the only thing we could afford to drink and there was a small language barrier. The pool area was perfect for relaxing and getting a summer tan. We spent most of our time at... more
This hotel was perfect for our honeymoon. We had been before and vowed we would return for our honeymoon, and we did. The rooms are lovely and have air-conditioning which is great in the summer heat. The pool is a really nice area with plenty of sun loungers, and everyone who stayed there was very friendly. We met up with a few nice couples in the Jazz bar and there was some nice live music on Friday and Saturday nights there. The beaches are gorgeous here and the private beach belonging to the Hotel... more
Upon arriving, Catherine and I were shown our suite facing the sea. The view was striking with the pool, spa, and gardens below. I only stay in five star hotels and I found that the Malpas Hotel fit my expectations. The reception area was created with the best materials and lavish. The fitness centre had top line equipment, which was obviously kept in good shape. My girlfriend found the spa to be comfortable and relaxing. The meals were also served hot. They were adequate for our needs. ... more
The Malpas Hotel is rated at five stars, and my family and I believe it earned each star. The staff at the hotel was friendly, courteous, and the service fast. The food provided offered a range of dishes, which were always hot and tasty. My wife spent a day in the spa, while my daughter and I hung out by the pool. We also took walks along the beach to enjoy the sunshine. April was the perfect time to visit Kyrenia, because the weather was more often sunny rather than cool and rainy. We found... more
My husband and I visited North Cyprus to celebrate our retirement, and I can highly recommend both the town and the hotel. We splashed out on this hotel and it was worth every penny. The locality was brilliant, a short distance from Kyrenia town centre, but with gorgeous views. The hotel had everything we wanted and we felt quite spoiled. I loved the Spa. The pool area is lovely but was busy a couple of times when there was a wedding in the hotel. There was a nice jazz bar and the waiters were so... more
Last year was our 40 year wedding anniversary and so I decided to treat my husband to a trip abroad. We rarely get to go abroad these days as I am not too keen on flying and my husband has bouts of suffering with his arthritis. I'd always liked to visit Cyprus and my daughter had told me about the wonderful times she had when she visited a few years ago. A neighbour suggested the Malpas hotel as being one of the best around so with the help of my daughter I looked for deals on the internet. Initially... more
We have just returned from another wonderful holiday at the Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia. We had been last year, and I think it is even better this year. The staff are truly wonderful and make sure that everything is absolutely perfect for you. The hotel is impressive and from the moment you step into the huge marble-tiled lobby you know you are going to have a wonderful stay. Each room is bright and modern and the bathrooms are to die for! We had a balcony overlooking the pool and it was just perfect.... more
