As a veteran hotel stayer on business (100plus nights per year), im a little picky, but this was without doubt an excellent hotel. Good rooms, clean and excellent service. I advise you not to stay there so that there is room for me for my next trip! This review process is a little ludicrous as it is insisting i add more, but i won't. As I said above the hotel was excellent, the food, staff, bar everything about the hotel was spot on. Admittedly it was a little off the main drag, so hire a car, although why you would want to leave the hotel I cannot imagine. Friendly staff, unobtrusive, polite and helpful. The drinks were not any different in price to what you would expect in a hotel of this calibre. The food was better than expected and the entertainment pleasant. A wonderful free spectacular was the three weddings that took... more

The Malpas experience was everything that we had been hoping for when we booked. A relaxed atmosphere, beautiful, spotless accommodation with outstanding views and a range of facilities that satisfied all the family. The food was varied and plentiful, with restaurant staff always on hand to help. Couldn't have asked for more. The customer focused attitude was a theme throughout the hotel, from the cleaners and waiters through to management. The pool and Jazz Bar staff in particular were outstanding.... more

A good moan is one of the defining characteristics of the British, particularly those from Larnaca who try and pop over to the bright side of the island for a few cheap, really unaffordable days, in a 5* Hotel. If you can't afford the prices, stay away! I certainly don't want a moanachondriac staying in my favourite hotel!Choosing a hotel is rather like buying a car; you do your homework, investigate, and then consider if you can afford to stay in an upmarket hotel rather than Butlins or a 2*.... more

This hotel seems well overrated to us. No drinks nor food whatsoever are allowed into the bedrooms. Not even a bottle of water! Travelling with a small child, this really isn't ideal! We've stayed in many hotels across the globe and we had never come across such a strict rule! My husband got stopped at the elevators because of a bottle of water... We ended up with Euro 30 bill from the minibar and that was just for water, 2 cans of Fanta and 2 small bags of crisps... The food in the restaurant was... more

Having just spent 3 weeks here, I feel so rested and ready for Christmas! The staff were all so helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The owner, and his PA & Guest Relations Angel were around and made us so welcome. The casino is discrete and does not impinge on the atmosphere. I travelled with an elderly, disabled friend, and the staff were so attentive to her special needs. We went for rest and recuperation, and this was the perfect place. I had the opportunity to enjoy a super 3 week break in the Malpas in December when I took advantage of a Book 2 weeks Get the 3rd free on B&B and without the dreaded single supplements, which is a first for North Cyprus! It certainly attracted many other solo travellers to the hotel and many couples from far and wide.My room was spacious, comfortable, clean and well maintained. Just returned from a weeks holiday in the Malpas Hotel which we found very clean lovely lounges and great surroundings. Food was varied and plentiful especially the bread selection. Although we were in the annexe down the road from the hotel we had a lovely quiet room and the service was excellent, we enjoyed the walk each morning for breakfast and sat outside enjoying the views. Malpas Hotel – I would not stay again and would not recommend it friends. Not 5 star.As a sixtieth birthday treat for my wife, we wanted to go 5 star, our room was nice with fantastic views from balcony. However we were located directly over the Jazz bar. This hotel is no way near the standard of 5 star. I would give it 3 at the most. We stayed for a week and have to say they didn't even change the sheets on the bed once. The cleaning was ok but the carpet in the room had stains all over it. They don't even supply free drinking water or tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. The cleanliness was superb and the food at the hotel had plenty of variety. The service at the hotel was superb.I would recommend to others, although the only points which I think needed improving were the wi fi which had a terrible signal strength even though I had paid for so called high speed internet access. The drinks in the bar, at dinner and minibar were expensive,... more

A beautifully appointed hotel in an ideal setting with good food and excellent, friendly service. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and the extensive grounds was outstanding. Superb, well cooked buffet meals in a great variety were always fresh and appetising. We stayed at the hotel for a week over the New Year period, when, for most of the time, the hotel was very busy puting the staff under a great deal of pressure, yet they were always chearful, with a ready with a smile.... more

The Malpas hotel is a very impressive place to stay at but it isn't quite a 5 star European standard. It turned out to be a fantastically clean and well run place with very friendly staff and clearly a caring management. This is the second time we've been here and both times we ate in regularly and the food was a high standard and we were especially happy and pleased with the high standards of hygiene in the food areas. There is also a casino on the complex and non residents flock in by the droves... more

We stayed at the Malpas 1/2 board special deal for 10 days mid December while furnishing our apartment. We must first say how great the staff are, efficient and very helpful but not in your face. The food was good considering it was buffet and if you like bacon with your eggs at breakfast just ask the chef, who cooks the fried eggs and does a great omelettes.Rooms large but a bit tired. Bar prices and wine at dinner way too expensive compared to other restaurants and bars we visited. The health... more

If you expect "5 stars" in your normal standard... You will probably get disappointed. You can not even compare with other real 5 star hotels in other countries. They could get 4 stars, but not 5 stars. Service does not deserve 5 stars, either. Front Desk Staff are not very helpful. However, what we actually got worth the price, or more than worth the price. Other 5 star hotels cannot be this reasonable. The food was great.... more

We visited Malpas on a group information trip one of many in and around Kyrenia. The instant x factor when you entered the hotel, and the standard of rooms and services, beat many 5 star hotels we have already visited on this trip. We had an extensive dinner and service of the hotel was impecable, right down to the services and staff. The piano bar and the evening atmosphere were superb, brilliant for honeymooners to very romantic. The pools laid out in front and the annexes and family accommodation... more

This is an excellent hotel for the money. The staff were friendly and helpful, on reporting a problem with our safe a member of the maintenance team had fixed it within 40 minutes. Our room was not overly large but adequate, all used toiletries were replaced on a daily basis. The choice of food was superb though the temperature of some meals could have been improved; the food at the pool snack bar was very good and reasonably priced. The pool was large with plenty of loungers and the area was... more

I thought the hotel was very good value bthe staff were very good if only they could speek english. We also asked for egg and bacon and was told the chef will not cook bacon because of the swine flu. We left the breakfast menu on the door for early morning tea/coffee it was still there in the morning. Also the mini bar was not restocked all small things but why should you have to complain before it gets done. When my partner said he had booked a hotel with a casino in North Cyprus for our summer holiday, I wasn't very keen. However, the Malpas turned out to be an excellent 5 star hotel, way above my expectations, and a real find for a good value holiday in June. The sun shone, the pool was nearly empty, there were sunbeds to spare, the staff had time to chat AND make sure you got a cold drink when you asked, and the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. Thank you for your enquiry about our recent stay at the above hotel. I was about to write to you on that very subject. We actually booked the hotel as a result of a recommendation from friends who stayed there last year. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed in what was supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Firstly, their Coffee maker packed up the on the first day and the day we left a man was still trying to repair it, so people were only getting just coffee. and all hot drinks had to be made... more

We stayed at the Malpas Hotel Catalkoy. The hotel lives up to its 5 star rating in all respects with the exception of the evening meal, whilst the food is presented well there is a lack of variety, although I am looking at this with English eyes so this is just my opinion. In the main the hotel is very good, the facilities, pool, bar, rooms etc are excellent, although the alchoholic drinks are very expensive, the equivalent of about £8 a pint of local lager, wine is approx £4 a glass with spirits... more

Great views of the sea. The cost of drinks is not out of place for a high end hotel (see other reviews £5 per glass, £25 bottle of wine). We enjoyed a post Xmas break at the Malpas Hotel, and very much enjoyed our stay, thanks to kind staff, a well-kept modern hotel and some very welcome sunshine. We knew from looking at the hotel's reviews in advance that it was out of town, so we hired a car at the airport (Ercan) and actually used it more than we originally thought.
