We found a great deal for the Malpas Hotel on the gonorthcyprus website and booked in via Gary in sales, who was very helpful and even arranged our transfers. We were made very welcome on arrival by the staff and given a large, clean room that was well equipped. The location is stunning, really beautiful views and the hotel put on a courtesy bus to a private jetty so you can get to the sea without much difficulty. The food was good and the service too, the staff were efficient at all times and the... more

I took my wife and our two children to the Malpas Hotel, having found a decent deal on We had a good room, plenty of space, very clean and good sized beds. Really nice pool area, we hired a large day bed, a good size for the 4 of us and nice to get a bit of shade from the hot sun. The whole hotel is well kept and the staff are friendly and work efficiently. Really nice al fresco meze and also good mealtime buffers, lots of choice. Great jazz bar and the hotel runs a shuttle bus... more

We recently arranged to visit the Malpas through gonorthcyprus and really cannot rate the place enough. We were made very welcome by the staff on reception had a lovely room, very clean and comfy. The shower worked very well and had good pressure and we also used the excellent laundry service. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and the place has an air of relaxation. We've just returned from a break at the Malpas which we booked with gonorthcyprus for the third time. Every time we visit this hotel it seems to have improved, it was already very good but is now even better and we will always return. The hotel is clean and well kept, we had a very nice, spacious room that was finished to a high standard. Location wise, the hotel is somewhat out of the way in a pleasant, peaceful area. However it's only a short drive to some lovely beaches and into town. Wonderful... more

Just returned from a short break at the Malpas, it was our first time staying in North Cyprus so we booked with GoNorthCyprus as they are well known as experts in the area. Gary was very helpful in giving us all the information we needed to make a choice and the Malpas seemed an ideal mid-range hotel. We found the staff very welcoming if a little inexperienced with their English and our room was comfortable. We were really pleased by the nice Hammam and warm pool. The food was adequate but not great,... more

We had been to the Malpas before so had no hesitation visiting again, Gary at Go North Cyprus gave us a great deal and even offered to send us driving directions from our home in Protaras. The food is just as good as ever, the out door pool uncrowded and the rooms clean and comfy as we live on the Island we had our car with us , which was handy as there is not much within walking distance ( though they do offer a Shuttle bus into Kyrenia), we headed east and on the new road found ourselves at the... more

Malpas Hotel had everything we wanted from our holiday, including great views, an excellent choice of food, a good location and a taste of luxury. It is only a short drive away from Kyrenia, and the GoNorthCyprus hotel runs a free shuttle bus there once a day, so we got to explore the harbour town whenever we wanted. It is also a short drive from the pretty village of Catalkoy where we experienced a real taste of authentic Cypriot life. Other than that, we didn't need to leave the resort, as it... more

My wife and I, plus a friend, recently spent three nights at the Malpas Hotel.I am recovering from a hip replacement, so mobility was an issue. The staff however always provided a buggy to take me from the main hotel to the Diamond Court annex, and back whenever needed. The manager also moved me to a room for the disabled, which made life so much easier with a walk-in shower, disabled person supports etc.The outside pool and the private beach were a challenge, but again helpful and supportive staff... more

This is my third visit to the Malpas and I always look forward to the facilities, food and relaxing pace of this resort. Unfortunately I arrived at the time of major renovations and outdoor excavation. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful I did find the constant digging and rock breaker annoying. We found the best prices for our winter holiday through Go North Cyprus, who booked us in at the Malpas Hotel for a week in February. We found the hotel pleasant and finished to a high standard, with a good variety of buffet food served at mealtimes. The hotel operates a shuttle bus into Kyrenia, which we took a few times to visit the lovely harbour here and have a poke around the shops. We went twice to the associated sea front fish restaurant which is simply not to be missed! I liked the gym, sauna, turkish baths, pool, etc. We will certainly return. The sea view rooms are worth the extra cost; cooked to order omelettes are an especially attractive feature of the lavish breakfast spread; the included buffet style dinners were more than adequate... more

It was the first time ever that I experienced sitting in my hotel room looking out across the Med Sea towards Turkey whilst it was snowing! We visited the Malpas twice this year, which whilst shamelessly indulgent of us given the current economic situation and all, was definitely worth doing. We're not in the habit of taking multiple holidays in a year (sometimes not even one) but a pay rise coupled with some unexpected free time made this the perfect opportunity and we were so impressed by our first stay that it became a bit of a no brainer.Getting from our rooms to the main hotel and bar area necessitated a walk up a relatively steep... more

Having been to North Cyprus on more than 30 occasions we are used to their slight exaggerations but to class this hotel as 5 star is extreme - 3 star at best and whislt they cannot control the type of guests they receive, by offering "good deals" they will be inundated with the type of person that should really be holidaying in the likes of Benidorm. A good moan is one of the defining characteristics of the British, particularly those from Larnaca who try and pop over to the bright side of the island for a few cheap, really unaffordable days, in a 5* Hotel. If you can't afford the prices, stay away! I thought the hotel was very good value bthe staff were very good if only they could speek english. We also asked for egg and bacon and was told the chef will not cook bacon because of the swine flu. We left the breakfast menu on the door for early morning tea/coffee it was still there in the morning. Also the mini bar was not restocked all small things but why should you have to complain before it gets done. To serve yourself for tea/coffee at b reakfast for a 5 star hotel is not correct when... more

When my partner said he had booked a hotel with a casino in North Cyprus for our summer holiday, I wasn't very keen. However, the Malpas turned out to be an excellent 5 star hotel, way above my expectations, and a real find for a good value holiday in June. The sun shone, the pool was nearly empty, there were sunbeds to spare, the staff had time to chat AND make sure you got a cold drink when you asked, and the whole atmosphere was very welcoming. The pool area is raised up so you get good views... more

Thank you for your enquiry about our recent stay at the above hotel. I was about to write to you on that very subject. We actually booked the hotel as a result of a recommendation from friends who stayed there last year. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed in what was supposed to be a 5 star hotel. Firstly, their Coffee maker packed up the on the first day and the day we left a man was still trying to repair it, so people were only getting just coffee. and all hot drinks had to be made... more

We stayed at the Malpas Hotel Catalkoy. The hotel lives up to its 5 star rating in all respects with the exception of the evening meal, whilst the food is presented well there is a lack of variety, although I am looking at this with English eyes so this is just my opinion. In the main the hotel is very good, the facilities, pool, bar, rooms etc are excellent, although the alchoholic drinks are very expensive, the equivalent of about £8 a pint of local lager, wine is approx £4 a glass with spirits... more

A great five star hotel, offering well appointed rooms, its public facilities were also very good and dining was great (food is buffet style). My wife and I stayed in an annex room, surrounded by a beautiful garden with fantastic sea and mountain views. Car parking was plentiful (due to the lack of public transport we would recommend hiring a car). The hotel swimming pools provided plenty of space to relax in and were well attended by staff whose aim was to help; this was complemented by a casual... more

on arrival, we were informed that the hotel was overbooked but there would be a room available the next day. arrangements had been made for us to stay overnight at a nearby hotel and we were assured that it was of the same standard. It was not, for although the pool area was pleasant, the restaurant area was tired and dingy, and the accommodation had a very small bathroom with only just enough room for a sink, lavatory and shower, and badly needed to be updated and decorated. we were offered the... more

Lovely hotel and adequate parking, we arrived and was taken to our room by a very helpful man from reception. We have relations who live in North Cyprus and would definately stay at the hotel again. If I could state what we didn't like it would be that the pool was too cold and that we would have liked a public telephone as the telephone calls in the room were expensive... even though we were phoning a number in North Cyprus. The food was good and a good choice.... more

we stayed at the Malpas Hotel for 10 days in April, the food and service was excellent, in particular the young guy who takes care of the pool, chairs etc, the reception was always helpful and the rooms are immaculate, we was speaking to another guest who had used the treatment area ands she was very disappointed as to the working order of a lot of the equipment and complained about the pool being cold on several occasions, i think our main observation is that the drinks are very much overpriced,... more

Arrived and was located a room overlooking the car-park, asked if this could be changed and was told that if we could sit and have a drink another room would be prepared for us. We returned an hour later to be told by another receptionist very aggresively that there were no other rooms available. Having waited an hour after a long journey we were not happy. A room was found in the annexe which was fine but more inconvenient for the spa and gym facilities which we were using twice a day. I felt... more

The Malpas is very well situated in a small village outside Kyrenia. This five star facility is everything I was expecting and more. The rooms, reception area, bars and restaurants are very well serviced and maintained to a high standard. I particularly enjoyed the pool area and the generous nature of staff to ensure that every detail from towels, to drinks, to umbrella were made available during the course of the day. My stay of 3 nights was most enjoyable with evening entertainment, a good... more

Firstly I tend to believe the hotel on the third floor issue (see other reviews) it was a full house while we stayed but the the top floor was out of action.Smart new well designed and furnished block. Great views of the sea. The cost of drinks is not out of place for a high end hotel (see other reviews £5 per glass, £25 bottle of wine). Food is buffet style, various bands during the week doing good cover versions of 60s classics.Outdoor pool is unheated, but lots of loungers and towels. Small... more

Lovely hotel, good food, good service but drinks so expensive. We spent more time out of the hotel in other nearby restaurants and bars where we could both eat and drink for the evening for less than the cost of 1 bottle of wine from the hotel. The facilities were excellent, the rooms were lovely and the standard of service was very good.As it was early in the season there was a little bit of cosmetic improvements being carried out. I was due to go to North Cyprus with my husband and our 6 year old daughter. It was her first ever trip abroad so we wanted to make it as special as possible. We read the reviews about the Malpas Hotel and immediately thought that it was the right place to stay. About a week before our departure, I received a phone call and was told that unfortunately there had been some problems with flooding at the Malpas and it was best to transfer to another hotel. This came as such an utter shock to us; we'd... more

We chose the Malpas after a recommendation from friends who had visited, as well as the glowing reviews it received on this site and TripAdvisor. We are originally from Cyprus ourselves but left as young children so we were very excited about a chance to get back to our roots. We enjoyed a post Xmas break at the Malpas Hotel, and very much enjoyed our stay, thanks to kind staff, a well-kept modern hotel and some very welcome sunshine. We knew from looking at the hotel's reviews in advance that it was out of town, so we hired a car at the airport (Ercan) and actually used it more than we originally thought. January is certainly not pool or beach weather, and a car meant we could explore more of North Cyprus, as the roads were virtually empty of other tourist traffic. Our... more

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend last November. We booked a last minute luxury break and everything was a dream. The hotel is the nicest place I have ever stayed, truly 5-star. I have to recommend this hotel wholeheartedly for giving us a wonderful romantic break. The exclusive atmosphere, and beautiful rooms made every minute a pleasure. Although there were over 170 rooms, the hotel was so peaceful and hushed. The Spa was top notch with a Turkish bath, steam room and impressive fitness room. The Jacuzzi would have graced any top London hotel, and the restaurant was a wonderful culinary experience. There was even a cigar shop and a jewelers on site. You generally get what... more

We booked the Malpas Hotel for a week, and wished we had booked longer! Despite initial concerns that it might be more a casino than a hotel, we were impressed with the quality and cleanliness. The bathroom was clean and in good order, which can't be said of every hotel bathroom we've seen in North Cyprus. The friendly staff always made time to talk to us 'old folk', and the buffet food was excellent. We really didn't need our hire car, as we only drove into Kyrenia a couple of times for a meal,... more

We booked the Malpas as a five star hotel but were very disappointed when we arrived to discover building work in progress, which started early in the morning. We were woken up by the noise of the builders hammering and banging and shouting. Took the kids to North Cyprus for a half term break last October, and chose the Malpas mainly for its heated indoor pool. Was really pleased to discover just how good the hotel was. Staff were very welcoming to my two 'little horrors'. Kids loved the pools which were linked by a bridge, and ate platefuls at the enormous buffet breakfasts. Stayed at the Malpas last September for a late holiday for me and my boyfriend. Had a sea view room which was fab, and we spent ages just sitting in the sunshine and drinking beers! Pool was big and empty when we were there; can't imagine it being too crowded even in summer. Drinks were expensive unless you had beer. Breakfast was great - loads to eat so you didn't need lunch. The Malpas is a really great hotel if you just want to chill out and relax. I spent most of my summer break here soaking up the sun by the pool. Hubby spent most of the time in the shade with a cool beer 'resting his eyelids'! The Spa, Wellness and Beauty Centre was good, with a nice sauna (mixed, so take your towel), Turkish bath and steam room. Treatments were reasonably priced (seen cheaper, paid higher), and my classic full body massage very relaxing. Our room was comfortable and had a sea view,... more
