As a veteran hotel stayer on business (100plus nights per year), im a little picky, but this was without doubt an excellent hotel. Good rooms, clean and excellent service. As I said above the hotel was excellent, the food, staff, bar everything about the hotel was spot on. Admittedly it was a little off the main drag, so hire a car, although why you would want to leave the hotel I cannot imagine. The Malpas experience was everything that we had been hoping for when we booked. A relaxed atmosphere, beautiful, spotless accommodation with outstanding views and a range of facilities that satisfied all the family. The food was varied and plentiful, with restaurant staff always on hand to help. A good moan is one of the defining characteristics of the British, particularly those from Larnaca who try and pop over to the bright side of the island for a few cheap, really unaffordable days, in a 5* Hotel. If you can't afford the prices, stay away! This hotel seems well overrated to us. No drinks nor food whatsoever are allowed into the bedrooms. Not even a bottle of water! Travelling with a small child, this really isn't ideal! We've stayed in many hotels across the globe and we had never come across such a strict rule! My husband got stopped at the elevators because of a bottle of water... Having just spent 3 weeks here, I feel so rested and ready for Christmas! The staff were all so helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. The owner, and his PA & Guest Relations Angel were around and made us so welcome. The casino is discrete and does not impinge on the atmosphere. I had the opportunity to enjoy a super 3 week break in the Malpas in December when I took advantage of a Book 2 weeks Get the 3rd free on B&B and without the dreaded single supplements, which is a first for North Cyprus! Just returned from a weeks holiday in the Malpas Hotel which we found very clean lovely lounges and great surroundings. Food was varied and plentiful especially the bread selection. Although we were in the annexe down the road from the hotel we had a lovely quiet room and the service was excellent, we enjoyed the walk each morning for breakfast and sat outside enjoying the views. It is a lovely hotel clean very well presented maybe love to stay there one day again but when i am really older and i want to relax because there is no entertainment in the hotel which is a shame!!! A great value for money hotel. Rooms clean, quiet and very comfortable. There was a very large food choice at both breakfast and dinner. I'm not a lover of buffets but they did a varied selection every day and always there was a chef available to cook your breakfast eggs or steaks, kebabs or fish for dinner.Swimming pool was very clean with helpful staff to sort out towels, umbrellas, food and drinks. we have stayed at this hotel 3 times we liked it so much we took our 3 girls with us last time the like us where verry imprest but we would like a al-cart menu if possible.the swimming is great lots of room to sun bath and a large swimming pool there is entertanment every night. the rooms are clean and verry comfortable but thebaths are a bit high to get in and out if you are or have moblite problems may be some could be converted in to showers the spar& indoor swimming pool are good.... more
Malpas Hotel – I would not stay again and would not recommend it friends. Not 5 star.As a sixtieth birthday treat for my wife, we wanted to go 5 star, our room was nice with fantastic views from balcony. However we were located directly over the Jazz bar. On our 10th night they had a Salsa Jam in the bar, due to the noise level and particularly the bass beat (the mirror wardrobe doors were vibrating in time to music) that woke me up at midnight, it was impossible to sleep until after 04.35 hours... more
I have seen a great deal of the world and have resided in many lovely places. I have acquired an addiction for staying in good hotels and tend to enjoy the smaller to medium sized ones where the staff have the guests' interests uppermost in their minds. 6th stay in The Malpas: We keep coming back as we take inter-connected rooms for family, plus the buffet breakfast is great for a family like ours where everyone wants something different.Staff are helpful, service is ok, not great, but improving & as a pretty new hotel, everything works. We like this Hotel. We have been three times and in comparison to another hotel we stayed at in North Cyprus the Malpass is far superior.We liked the food, surroundings, the room and the views are wonderful. Would recommend this Hotel to any of my friends and colleauges. This hotel is no way near the standard of 5 star. I would give it 3 at the most. We stayed for a week and have to say they didn't even change the sheets on the bed once. The cleaning was ok but the carpet in the room had stains all over it. They don't even supply free drinking water or tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. Because the hotel was full, we were upgraded to the bugalows outside the hotel. On arrival we noticed that room had not been cleaned properly, and a threadbare and stained rug was lying in the middle of the room. We called housekeeping had the rug removed and cleaned our room ourselves. On day three of our stay, the cleaner turned up to work on our bungalow at 1830 hours just as we were preparing ourselves for dinner. We had a short stay whilst checking progress on our property, the Malpas was chosen as very good value for half board as we were rushing about. Stayed in the main body of Hotel on this my third recent stay. As usual the food was superb both the quality and the choice. The staff were very attentive especially in the Spa where they really work hard to look after the members and guests I think the Spa and the food are the main attractions. My husband, 10 year old daughter and I stayed here for a few days in February. It was a lovely hotel just a shame there was only a few people staying (I know its completely off season). The food was great everything you could ever imagine to eat for breakfast and dinner, we went out to eat one night and paid a fortune and I can honestly say the food in the hotel was better. This was or first time staying at the Malpas and after reading bad reviews we were a bit worried. We now can honestly say who wrote these reviews?????? The hotel was very nice, the staff were fantastic, the food was wonderful and the facilities were superb!!! If I were to be really picky the only thing I found was the prices for gambling in the casino were a bit steep but that's hardly relevant considering how excellent everything else was.We will be back again!Thanks... more
My girlfriend and I made reservations at the Malpas Hotel (and casino) after seeing some very attractive photographs of the complex alongside its five-star rating. We booked the Malpas for our Christmas break, we had stayed at the hotel before so were familiar with its facilities. It did not disappoint us! The break included 3 meals a day and free local drinks during the meal, it was amazing, so much food! The quality and range was exceptional. We even had a traditional Turkey dinner on Christmas day. my husband and our two friends have just spent our christmas at the malpas,it was excellent. From check in to check out the staff were attentive, our roomwas clean and well presented, the only thing that would be an improvment wouldbe more English tv programmes. We have stayed at this hotel many times and love everything about it although this was the first time "öff season" and my only small complaint was that we found the indoor pool area rather unwelcoming. It is very bare - no colour--it's all white- no greenery or nice lighting and worst of all too cold to sit around in. Will definitely be back but maybe not off season.... more
I always stay in Malpas hotel and i reccomend it because of its high standard, very helpful staff and excellent food. I have a medical problem with my left leg and they always give me a room near to the lift so i don't have to walk far. I last two years i go to this hotel almost every month for a few days and i plan to continue staying there. Their prices are reasonable and i really every next time it gets better and better. I stayed in other 5 star hotels in Kyrenia but none was of so high standard.... more
We stayed at this hotel because it had a casino and it had a very good deal for November and December. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was to 5 star standards. It was only a short car journey away from the harbour and main town. The pool area was very nice but was closed only a few days before. The Malpas Hotel has been a regular holiday destination for me and my wife since we first visited some years ago. We stayed for 3 nights half-board in Mid-Oct 2010. Hotel is clean and well maintained and staff were friendly and helpful. Our room (superior standard mountain facing) was large, well laid out and quite well equipped. We had a few problems with used items being replaced (soap, shampoo, etc) but put this down to a certain lack of supervision of room staff. The twin flush toilet cum bidet is excellent and should be adopted worldwide, especially in countries with water shortages. A kettle and tea/coffee making facilities would have been appreciated. Rooms clean, Staff polite and helpfull. Food excellent both quantity and quality and the chef very obliging and prepared to go the extra mile to help the guests. Room comfortable and clean but tea and coffee making facilities would add to the star rating and would have been very much to our liking. Enjoyed my stay very much, comfortable hotel with good selection and quality of food at both breakfast and dinner.The hotel bars could benefit from some entertainment as I found them lacking in atmosphere due to lack of numbers. The hotel is of a very good standard and generallly lives up to its rating.The standard of service in reception is way below standard. On arrival there were three reception staff and nobody else at the counter. It took over 30 minutes for them to complete our check in after we had filled in tthe paperwork. The Malpas is a contemporary hotel set in an elevated location between the sea and mountains just east of Girne. The hotel also has its own exclusive beach club a couple of miles away which is idylic. Although the hotel provides a regular shuttle service and taxis are always readily available, a hire car is the best way to get around. Not truly `International`. And not quite, but almost, the full 5 star standard. We very much enjoyed our stay and the fact that there was a Turkish wedding , with music, and a big concert with a well known (Turkish) singer around the pool on another evening, added a little colour to our evenings. My wife and i booked a two week half board package holiday at the Malpas in November last year and revisited for a quick break away last month in May. We stayed there in May 2010 for four days. The hotel is really nice, so the pool, breakfast and dinner were really okay. The biggest minus: one member of the room service. We were all the day out of the room - breakfast, pool, lunch...., sometimes, when we picked up something from the room we saw here nearby. She wasnt friendly and in the end she never made the room. The Malpas opened 4 years ago and I have been coming here with my wife ever since. The hotel is very friendly. Any communication or service problems on first opening have been overcome and we have had a very good stay every visit. Get a sea view if you can and you'll also be impressed by the scenic Kyrenian Mountains. Spent a 2 night weekend in the hotel with my husband, sister and her husband. Excellent hotel with very good imenities. Nicely situated for town and area. Second time I've stayed here. Reception staff very helpful, pool attendance ecellent. Located in the annex area, good spacious rooms, had to request for toilet rolls, and loo brush which took 3 days to arrive, closer supervision of cleaners needed. Food of reasonable variety, re cycled is expected. Our one week's holiday turned into two and a half weeks thank to the Icelandic volcano! On arrival we were impressed with the overall appearance of the hotel. We were just disappointed that the fish restaurant nearby the beach was closed, but it wasn't high season yet, so understandable. I stayed at the Malpas for a business trip and found the standard of the rooms and general appearance of the hotel to be excellent. The cleanliness was superb and the food at the hotel had plenty of variety. A beautifully appointed hotel in an ideal setting with good food and excellent, friendly service. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel and the extensive grounds was outstanding. Superb, well cooked buffet meals in a great variety were always fresh and appetising. The Malpas hotel is a very impressive place to stay at but it isn't quite a 5 star European standard. It turned out to be a fantastically clean and well run place with very friendly staff and clearly a caring management. This is the second time we've been here and both times we ate in regularly and the food was a high standard and we were especially happy and pleased with the high standards of hygiene in the food areas. If you expect "5 stars" in your normal standard... You will probably get disappointed. You can not even compare with other real 5 star hotels in other countries. They could get 4 stars, but not 5 stars. Service does not deserve 5 stars, either. Front Desk Staff are not very helpful.However, what we actually got worth the price, or more than worth the price. This is an excellent hotel for the money. The staff were friendly and helpful, on reporting a problem with our safe a member of the maintenance team had fixed it within 40 minutes. Our room was not overly large but adequate, all used toiletries were replaced on a daily basis. I thought the hotel was very good value bthe staff were very good if only they could speek english. We also asked for egg and bacon and was told the chef will not cook bacon because of the swine flu. We left the breakfast menu on the door for early morning tea/coffee it was still there in the morning. When my partner said he had booked a hotel with a casino in North Cyprus for our summer holiday, I wasn't very keen. A great five star hotel, offering well appointed rooms, its public facilities were also very good and dining was great (food is buffet style). The Malpas is very well situated in a small village outside Kyrenia. This five star facility is everything I was expecting and more. Stayed at the Malpas last September for a late holiday for me and my boyfriend. Had a sea view room which was fab, and we spent ages just sitting in the sunshine and drinking beers! Pool was big and empty when we were there; can't imagine it being too crowded even in summer. Drinks were expensive unless you had beer. Breakfast was great - loads to eat so you didn't need lunch.
