I've been holidaying in Cyprus for about ten years now and for the past four my family and I have always adopted the Riverside as our default holiday accommodation. We discovered it by chance a few years ago and loved it so much we have simply not bothered to look for anywhere else since! We only get the time to go once a year and it's not always even in the nice summer weather, but we always try to get a break in at some point. This year due to changing jobs just before Christmas, our trip over... more
Unfortunately my lasting memory of our stay at the Riverside was when we left the Bungalow for a taxi ride to Ercan Airport at 0530. The whole place was pitch black and I fell of the path into a garden losing my bags, suitcase, sunglasses and room key - how I didn't break my neck I shall never know. I found my case and bags and, after borrowing the receptionists mobile 'phone to use it's torch, my sunglasses. Unfortunately I couldn't find the room key. I returned the 'phone and explained that having... more
If you are thinking of booking this resort than whether you have a good or bad holiday will depend on the type of accommodation you are allocated on your arrival. We paud extra to have a superior room and still ended up with a bungalow straight from the 70s, clean but old and no mod cons at all.We did however see some of the lovely accommodation that other customers were staying in and had we been allocated one of those I would be writing a totally different review. We thought the location was fine... more
My wife and I spent about a week here at Riverside Holiday Village recently. This was not our first trip here and it won't be our last to north cyprus, as we love it here. Since we are an older couple, we are looking more for relaxation and peace and quiet. This hotel delivers that. It's the perfect setting for a romantic getaway for a young couple; or for older couples like us, a relaxing vacation in a peaceful and tranquil setting. This hotel is set amidst beautiful and lush gardens just... more
My family and I have stayed at Riverside holiday village a number of times over the years and we always enjoy it. Not once have we had any bad experiences, yet I read some not-so-nice reviews recently and decided to add my own review to balance it out somewhat. The last visit there was several months ago, but we've booked three weeks there again coming up soon. I expect it to be as great as it always is. In our opinion, one of the best in northern cyprus.Riverside holiday village is a lovely... more
My family and I have just returned from our third stay at the Riverside Holiday Village in Kyrenia in North Cyprus. We have been really pleased with the hotel every time we've visited, which is the main reason for our continued custom. Riverside is a family owned-and-run hotel, and so whilst it lacks some of the mod-cons of larger complexes, it also has a friendlier more personal feel to it.The hotel itself, along with its facilities are fairly standard. The 'basic' rooms are fairly aptly named... more
The Riverside Holiday Village was the perfect holiday. When we booked, we were relatively happy with the price but didn't expect the value for money which we actually received in North Cyprus. The Riverside holiday village itself was beautiful; set in lush grounds with stunning gardens. The village was quite a way out from the local villages but luckily there was an adequate bus serve to take you anywhere you wanted to go. This may sound like a bit of a pain, but I really believe that when you stand... more
As a hotel, the Riverside Holiday Village had its positives and negatives. Some of the hotel is quite shabby and old-looking. The first room we were booked into wasn't acceptable for myself and family (including 2 young children.) My husband and I felt that we had paid good money so were confident in asking for another. The second was much better, but still fairly plain. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They had no trouble changing us to another room and were always appeared to work hard... more
After reading reviews, we decided to book a superior villa on a self-catering basis, and we glad we did. As others have remarked on other review sites, the Village is super for kids, as the staff is very friendly and the pool perfect for younger kids in terms of swimming, although I saw mums and dads occasionally having to watch their step. Great views of the mountains, and a very relaxing place to chill out even if you don't have kids but enjoy seeing them having fun, like us.The villa was clean... more
This was our first visit to North Cyprus and we really enjoyed it. The hotel/resort was much nicer than I expected, and being the winter it was very quiet. Most of the tourists were older couples, like ourselves, and there were very few families with children. What we enjoyed were the gardens, the excellent half-board meals and the trips we booked from the hotel. We did several walking and bicycle tours of the island with a guide and saw so many wonderful places and we played several rounds of golf.... more
The Riverside Holiday Village is good for anyone looking for a villa-style holiday but without the hassle! The Riverside has blocks of apartments and some villas, all low rise, so you have your own space, but you also have full use of the facilities such as the swimming pool, etc. Our newly renovated villa was clean, airy and we heard very little noise from our neighbours. The air conditioning worked very well (with no extra charges), and the maid came in every day to clean and give us new towels,... more
It is hard to write this review because some people might really like this kind of hotel, but it wasn't right for us at all. I was on holiday with my friends, and as soon as we arrived at the hotel it was clear that it was full of mostly families. The pool was nice but again, there were tons of noisy kids around. There was a separate pool just for swimming though, which meant that we could go for a dip without having to dodge the balls and inflatables. If you do go on holiday to Cyprus with... more
Our two week holiday in North Cyprus was hot, hot, hot, so we were really grateful for the swimming pools and aircon in our apartment. Villa was airy and light, with a very usable kitchen and was spotlessly cleaned every day. We had hired a car betwwn the four of us which proved useful for sightseeing and trip to the local beaches, shopping in Kyrenia, etc. (There is a shop on site for essentials and treats like chocolate or crisps.)Breakfast menu consisted mainly of eggs, which was fine if a little... more
This was our first trip as a family to North Cyprus and we did not know quite what to expect, but we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a beautiful villa right next to the Aqua Park and the children had a ball. This is a wonderful resort, and I cannot praise it highly enough. Our three-bedroom villa had loads of space for us all. The furniture was modern and new and had loads of storage space and a well-fitted kitchen which is ideal with children. Self-catering saved us a fortune, especially on... more
We got this trip at the last minute through Direct Traveller. Thought it would be fun to have some time in the sun before returning to university. While the accommodations were quite nice the hotel is older. The food wasn't part of the package so we had to eat at the restaurants at the hotel or walk a bit to find food. It was nothing spectacular but good nonetheless. The pool is the best feature with loungers. The Olympic pool is the best for quiet and the flume pool sees more activity. There... more
This is a children's hotel, no doubt about it. The pool is massive, and has a little aqua park with flumes which kept our two kids (7 and 9) entertained for hours each day (and tired them out so that they had an early night and my wife and I had a few hours alone each evening.) Our apartment was clean, although it looked like it could do with a bit of a face lift. The beds and furniture were all comfy, and we had no complaints from any family member. There was air conditioning, although we... more
