We found the Colony Hotel through gonorthcyprus and stayed for a week. The location was just what we were looking for, very central with the sea and mountains in the background. My wife and I had a clean and comfortable room that we found very relaxing, although be aware that people can smoke in the hotel, so if you don't smoke it might not be ideal. Breakfast was good and varied and the meals at the pool restaurant were good too. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening so can't comment on teatime.... more

We stayed at the Colony Hotel for a week in the run-up to Christmas to escape the stress back home, it was just what we needed. You're made to feel welcome from the start, even the doormen are polite. We had a comfortable room with a fantastic bathroom, everything was finished to a high standard. The main restaurant was great, varied buffet and plenty of choice at breakfast. Everywhere kept very clean and tidy. A lot of the guests smoke, especially in the casino, so bear this in mind if you're a... more

My husband and I had a lovely room with a balcony, tea and coffee facilities, a couple of free bottles of water each day and a very nice bathroom with powerful shower. The rooftop pool is wonderful and the restaurant offers a great choice of food, all well cooked and served by polite and pleasant waiters. Nice hotel bars with decent drinks and prices too. My husband and I recently booked a week away at the Colony after finding a deal on the GoNorthCyprus website. The hotel looked great, tidy and upmarket, so we booked a break. We were impressed when we arrived by the hospitality of the staff and also by the standard of the hotel in general, everything is very clean and well kept. Staff were professional and always attentive. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated and we enjoyed the rooftop pool, both sunbathing by it and cooling off in the water.... more

We wanted to stay somewhere upmarket for a relaxing break and GoNorthCyprus found us the wonderful Colony Hotel. In a good spot close to the town, the Colony is a classic looking building with pleasant decor. We had a spacious room, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The hotel staff are polite and friendly, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We didn't use the casino but we did venture to the top of the building where there is an amazing pool and superb views. We recently stayed at the Colony Hotel with GoNorthCyprus for a short out of season break. The hotel is beautiful, very tastefully decorated and our suite was very luxurious with a wonderful spa bath. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are really friendly, the only thing I will say is that the room got quite hot, even in March! Good old town location, you can walk to the harbour. It is noisy in the daytime if you're in the hotel with the window open but that is to be expected as the hotel is... more

A lovely hotel, Central locationn, so quiet we overslept until 9.45 one morning. Good selection of food for meal times, staff always helpful and happy. Great happy hour 4-7' drinks reasonable price anyway.Had a massage each which was really good and exceptional value.Only thing I could fault gp the hotel on was coffee mate with tea bags and coffee which curdled the drinks, small milk cartons would have been better. We took an on-the-spur-of-the-moment decision to visit North Cyprus (I'd previously been in Cyprus 50 years ago!) and returned to a busier and larger but not vastly different Kyrenia. After considerable research and thought we opted to stay at the Colony Hotel and are delighted that we did. We enjoyed our week in the Colony. From start to finish the hotel staff never failed to impress. The breakfasts were always great with a huge variety of types of food available. We found the dinner menu's a little less impressive and given the large variety of eating places in the Kyrenia area we thought the Colony wasn't quite up to the mark and didn't provide particularly good value for money. The Colony Hotel is an excellent hotel, great location, superb food, great swimming pool. One small fault, as other reviewers have said, 'hot' foods could have done with being a bit warmer. Restaurant staff were always extremely helpful and great at having a joke with you. I've visited Kyrenia quite a few times now, and I've been a resident at many of the hotels that the region has to offer. The Colony Hotel was a recommendation from gonorthcyprus booking company (many thanks to Sue, the agent I used) whilst admittedly unlikely to compete with the more extravagant and larger 4-5* hotels in the area in terms of facilities, it is still an absolute gem. The Colony Hotel grew on us over the two days we spent there. We were alarmed to find it was on a main street, and reminded the receptionist that we had asked for a quiet room - we were then given a room at the back on the 2nd floor, only to find that there were all the signs of a large party about to take place in the function room just below us. Luckily it either didn't take place or finished very early as there were no signs of revellers in the hotel later. However, because the Hotel is right... more

We have stayed at the Colony regularly during the past 10 years and it continues to offer excellent food and service, not usually found in the North of Cyprus. Staff go "the extra mile" to make your stay memorable. Rooms are suptious, very comfortable and an ideal retreat from the heat. The roof top swimming pool and bar is a delight where you can watch the hussle and bussle of Kyrenia. If its something a little bit special you want then the Colony is for you.... more

We have visited North Cyprus on various occasions over the past decade, and experienced all manner of hotels from the very good to the very bad. We have just returned from a visit to The Colony Hotel and are very pleased to say that this hotel falls firmly into the first category. It is extremely clean and well maintained, impeccably furnished and the rooms are very large in comparison with most of the competitor hotels we've visited.Customer service in the hotel is clearly paramount. I stayed here for a week and a half in october and to be honest my family and I had a fantastic time, which was surprising as im not normally one for going away for our holidays. The Colony hotel had a lovely big pool and was located in a really good spot for venturing out into the town. All in all I thought north cyprus was a great place for a summer holiday but obviously we were visiting in October so im not so sure we got the very most out of it. The Colony Hotel had nice rooms too, you could... more

My Wife and I spent a week in the Colony and ejoyed every minute. Televisions could do with an upgrade, no Sky available. No tea making facilities in the room. Other than that no problems. The Mistral Bar and swimming pool on the roof, fantastic. The Gym down below was very clean with all the standard equipment, steam room, sauna. We had a great week. Fantastic views from the Mistral Bar, Five finger peaks in the moutains. Food excellent. If you wanted English breakfast you paid extra.... more

We had a lovely week in The Colony. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, although not large. Nice buffet breakfast, just need to teach the chef how to make poached eggs!! The rooftop swimming pool was great, the pool and surrounding area wer kept immaculate. The only downside was the price of the drinks, and the rooms did not include bottled water, which was very expensive if ordered from room service.... more

My husband and I booked the Colony Hotel for what we hoped would be a luxurious get away. Our first impressions of the hotel were that it was beautifully decorated, clean and expensive looking. All of these impressions proved to be correct, including the 'expensive' part. We had paid a lot to stay at the hotel, but didn't quite expect everything to be really expensive. The drinks were astoundingly high in price! That said, the hotel was good quality and quite a treat. The hotel was in a great location... more

We stayed here for a weekend and although the room and public areas were 5* we felt that the breakfast was not. The Conaro beach club which you can visit free of charge and get transport to is well worth a visit. We had lunch at the pool bar which was very tasty. We had gone B&B so that we good try out the restaurants in the harbour area which were well worth a visit. Hi all, my wife booked a short trip as a surprise for my birthday last month and we booked into The Colony hotel which seemed to come highly recommended on several websites. She booked over the telephone with Go North Cyprus company and we had a smooth flight and a pretty enjoyable transfer from the airport too.Our bedroom was really nice. I stayed on a half board basis -the buffet breakfast was lavish but at the evening meal I was a little put out to be told that that I had been given the wrong menu and had a far more limited choice on the half board menu. The service IS 5-star and the hotel is a very short walk from the town and Kyrenia Harbour.Although I did not have my children with me, it was obvious that the attitude is very child friendly - there is valet parking - the staff were friendly - the room was good and clean. Very good hotel, extremely clean and very central. Roof pool area and bar very attractive. Rooms very spacious and well equipped, staff very professional. Slight downside was that the breakfast was not up to the standard of a 5 Star Hotel. Choice was very limited, croissants were not very fresh and cold. You could get additional items (eg bacon) but this had to be paid for separately. Overall, very good value for money.... more

Most hotels like to market themselves as comfort personified, with lovely attentive and friendly staff. Ive travelled the world over the years and I can honestly say only very few hotels actually live up to their marketing websites and pamphlets. Thats exactly why I was so incredibly pleased when we arrived at the Colony Hotel. No sooner had we walked in, the staff were going out of their way to make us comfortable after our journey travelling. We were shown to our room which was very clean, tidy... more

The Colony hotel is a beautiful place to visit and stay but you must remember that it is a town centre hotel in the middle of a busy place with an excess of high rolling gamblers and impressing the local glitterati. If this sounds like your kind of thing then you'll really enjoy your time here. When we first arrived we were more than impressed at the hotel itself. It was immaculately presented, with a very relaxing but professional atmosphere. They certainly knew what they were looking to achieve... more

Wonderful ambience and very attentive staff at all levels. We live in Turkey and speaking a little Turkish may have helped in this respect. Rooms were fine and well appointed albeit with perhaps a little too much furniture making it seem a bit crowded. We stayed in the colony for 4 days. First the positive things: Excellent located in the city of Kyrenia, large rooms with first-class furniture and outstanding breakfast. But unfortunately there were some issues which avoid to feel us comfortable: Horrible prices at the Mini bar (€ 10,-- for 0,25 liter vitamin drink), striclty forbiddance to take any mineral water to our room (if you try the hotel staff stops you and withdraw water) and some of the waiters are arrogant (if you are not a VIP).... more

June and I stay in hotels of various sorts all over the world. Its not unusual to find that the bigger and more expensive they are, the harder they fall. Not so this gem. Although there was nothing amazingly special about the room or the food; both were fine, thats all, the 'make you want to go back factor' was the way the staff all worked for us to make the four day stay such a joy. We had difficulty choosing a hotel for our New Year break in Kyrenia, but eventually we decided on the Colony, and we're glad we did. My husband and I travel a lot for business, so we like to check in and chill out with a minimum of fuss. The Colony Hotel is nice, yes, nice I think is the word to describe it. It is not 5 star elegance that one finds in the opulent and enormous hotels that are built today all around the world. It has more of the feel of the hotels of 1960's Europe - which is not to say that it is such a bad thing! However, two things let the hotel down badly. First was the food, which was decidely average. The second was the hotel's unwillingness to provide areas in the hotel for non-smokers.The restaurant's idea to... more

It is next to a Casino, which is not a problem, and right in the centre of Kyrenia – just step outside the door and you are right in the heart of this charming old city. I was recommended the Colony Hotel by friends who had stayed before and had a wonderful time. We were not disappointed by the hotel, or by North Cyprus which is really beautiful. The sun shone every day, the scenery is very pretty (shame about the litter) and the sea is an amazing blue and very clear. If you arrived at this 5 star hotel anywhere else in Europe in shirts and flip-flops, they'd throw you out.
