I have previously stayed in the Merit Crystal Cove hotel so this year decided to make a change and go for the Merit Lefkosa. Just before I went, I read a few reviews and one went on about how rude the staff are. It did worry me a bit but I need no need to worry. During my whole stay, I had no problems with the staff and my booking was correct. The staff aren't fantastic at speaking English, so perhaps if you did have a problem, it might be difficult but I found them to be perfectly polite.The Merit... more
My visit to this hotel in December 2009 was my second and I will be back. It has good quality rooms and facilities and is certainly the best I have stayed in on Cyprus - north or south. Staff are friendly but, if you do not speak Turkish, you must accept that language may be an issue with cleaning staff. All other staff converse well in English. As I was in the neighbourhood, I thought I would drop in to this hotel to see what all the fuss was about. The hotel looks modern from the outside with a sleek interior, but unfortunately the glamour ends there...The staff all seemed to be miserable, not one could crack a slight glimpse of a smile and if you fail to notice the cracked faces then you won't miss the rudeness of the front desk and casino desk staff that are placed here to prevent customers coming in.
