One of the best things about the hotel was the sauna and swimming pool. Disapointingly our room was not withn the hotel so I had to walk some way outside after a sauna and swim etc sometimes when it was quite cold and windy. Also locaton was not bad, out of the main town but only a 15-20 minute walk into the harbour, which was good. The hotel were suppsoed to provide a shuttle into town but we never saw this....The following comments are made thinking we were heading to a plush 5* hotel for... more
My boyfriend and I visited north cyprus for the second time and stayed at the Vouni Palace recently. I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the hotel, as well as the service. Both were great! The outside of the hotel caused a little bit of disappointment at first, as it looks rather square and non-distinct. However, when you walk in the door, be prepared to be awed! The opulence of the décor took my breath away. The styling is very modern and chic – nothing vintage here, thank goodness.... more
My husband and I spent a couple of weeks in the northern cyprus region late in May. This was our first visit and stayed at the Vouni Palace Hotel. I was a little disappointed. Since we were here for a couple of weeks, I expected there to be some kind of entertainment going on at least occasionally but not once during our entire stay was there any type of entertainment or anything for the guests to enjoy. A staff member introduced himself to us (on the day we departed) as the entertainment manager... more
The Vouni Palace was one of the nicer places I've stayed in this area of north cyprus, which was a nice surprise after looking at the outside. The outside of this place looks like an office building – very square and faceless. However once you get inside, you realize it's much different. The lobby is impeccable in its styling. It's plush and modern, with expensive furniture and crystal all over the place. The bedrooms are the same – great atmosphere here. The room was smaller than I'd have... more
The biggest mistake we made when booking this hotel was to assume that the 5 star status in Cyprus matches up with 5 star hotels in the UK-it does not! When my wife and I booked the Vouni Palace, we were fully hoping for paradise and this is not what we received. Instead we received distinctly average accommodation, adequate facilities and acceptable staff. The hotel was very modern which gave it that 'clean,' just built feel. It had some lavish features, particularly in the reception area. However,... more
Our room at the Vuni Palace had a nice sea view, and the hotel is just outside Kyrenia, so it was an ideal mix of town and sea for us. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was fine, but most days we drove the hire car out into the countryside and ate at any local place we found - much better value and I suspect better food too than in Kyrenia centre. Our room was quite large with a small balcony, and remarkably quiet. The spa was good (says the wife), and the bar staff seemed to magically appear whenever... more
Blake and I decided to get away on holiday before the winter cold came about. We chose the Vouni Palace because it was one of the newer hotels. We have to agree that it wasn't a five star hotel as advertised, but it was good enough for a four star status. Our room had a view of the countryside, the sea and the pool. The views were exceptional. During our entire ten days holiday we didn't venture onto the beach as it was perfectly awful. The pool, however, was delightful with plenty of beds... more
From the outside the Vuoni/Vuni (depends on who you book with as to what the name is!!) looks a bit of a faceless block, and even from the pool area it looks more like offices than a hotel. However, my office block certainly hasn't got a view like the one from the sea jetty, miles of uninterrupted Mediterranean Sea!Inside, the lobby decor is designer chic, all square sofas and dangly crystals at the bar area, but actually the whole effect is remarkably welcoming. it's like a intimidating 'celeb'... more
We very much enjoyed or stay at the Vuni, thanks to the nice staff who looked after us very well, and the warm sunshine that revived us after a long and dull Welsh winter. Most of the staff had good English, and were always happy to help if they could. The hotel is very modern in style, but our room was comfortable with a small but perfectly clean bathroom and an air conditioning unit that was very efficient. We were able to sit out on the balcony and look at the sea view for hours, which was a real... more
We went on a holiday with another couple, and we thought that the newer Vouni Palace Hotel would be a great choice. It was not a five star hotel as the travel agent told us it would be. The rooms were adequate with a lovely poolside area. We spent a considerable amount of time there. Both couples did the B & B option and the breakfast was tasty enough. That is the only meal we ate there, however, as the prices are terribly high. One went out for food and drinks because it was a rip off to pay... more
