My husband and I stayed at the Bellapais Monastery Village for a week awhile back. We were really impressed and have already recommended it to several of our friends, who said they would stay there based on our recommendation. We are picky when it comes to hotels, so for us to really like a place, it means it's really good!We flew into Larnaka and the Bellapais arranged transportation to the hotel. We arrived and got checked in quickly and were shown to our bungalow. The check-in process was... more

We stayed here for 10 days in June. We received a very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were originally offered a room in the main hotel with two single beds but asked to be moved to one of the bungalows with a double bed on the mezzanine. This was no problem, although we were 100 steps away from the restaurant. This was okay for us and we welcomed the exercise! The breakfast was waiter served, not the usual run of the mill buffet service and the waiters were fantastic, especially... more

Room and restaurant meals excellent, the staff in both too. The shuttle bus to town was a godsend also. But I do have several gripes. The name is most misleading. It is not in Bellapais (a stiff half hour walk uphill), it has nothing to do with the monastery, and is not a 'village' in the dictionary sense. Nor are its rooms 'villas', of which the surrounding countryside is littered.Though delighted to find a plug in the washbasin, lacking in a previous hotel, I was less so on finding that it did... more

We stayed at the hotel in one of the mini villas. We knew the time of year would be quiet, but this was what we wanted. The Bellapais is top draw ,the food was second to none ,nothing was any bother . From the reception, service in the restaurant and cleanliness it was a pleasure ,my partner and i would certainly go back and hope to. I would add that the hotel is built on a hill so there are plenty of stairs but if you are able enough it just adds to the beauty of the spot.... more

We stayed for 10 days on a half board basis. On arrival we had a problem with room which was sorted next day.So relaxing, cracking food, reasonably priced drinks & very polite & friendly staff.Found indoor pool a little small.Still only used it to cool off.We were booked on a 21 day 2 centre break.Would have been happy to stay here.Only bonus was next hotel is right on beach. Strongly recommend. Booked with Direct Traveller, rep was spot on & sorted out our minor roomproblem for us.... more

For the price we were shocked how nice the rooms, service and food was . We would go again, in or out of high season. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful. The all inclusive menu was a choice from the full menu, not a cheap menu ! Only discovered indoor pool , steam and sauna rooms on last day, shame !... more

My wife and I recently stayed here and found it a thouroughly peaceful location. We stayed in one of the bungalows which was clean and comfortable. The staff were efficient and helpful. The food in the hotel was good enough and there was plenty of choice at breakfast, although my wife was refused Apple Juice at breakfast even though we could clearly see there was some available in the fridge. A lack of flexibilty there somewhere. There are plenty of places to eat in Bellapais and Kyrenia and we... more

We stayed in the hotel for just a short while and actually managed to relax, no phones,no yobs and no small children. We had come over from the Greek side of the island and found the Turkish people to be extremely pleasant they were not the child eating monsters that we are told about in the south. The staff were all extremely helpful, the rooms were kept spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable.Kyrinea harbour is beautiful with quaint little restaurants and a few bars.... more

We stayed here for a very hot (40 degrees +) week and enjoyed it very much. It is made up of hotel rooms and mini villas in the grounds. All rooms operate like hotel rooms.... ie the villas are not self catering. They do provide a kettle in the rooms and cups but no tea/coffee or milk, which seemed ridiculous. The air conditioning was effective and much appreciated. It was quiet and only has children over 12 yrs allowed. This didn't worry ours, who all really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and... more

It's situated a bit out of town up the mountain, so the views are great. However, getting in to town is a bit of a kerfuffle - they do offer a complimentary transfer service, but it stops very early, so it's no good if you want to go out in the evening (taxi is about 13 TL).The rooms are fine - very clean, but not luxurious. Pack your own tea bags and coffee though because although they say there are tea making facilities in the room, they only supply the kettle and cups! However, the staff are wonderful.... more

Having just returned from the Bellapais, I found the food excellent, OK so not a lot of Turkish food but they do cater for mainly British tourists and it was nice to have al-carte breakfast and dinner without queing at a buffet! I was impresssed by the friendly and extremely smart and attention to detail staff. May is a good time to visit as the hotel is quieter and you can easily get a sunbed. Its not a hotel for the elderley, infirm and disabled as there are a lot of steps as said before and... more

The Bellapais Hotel was great for a quiet weekend. The little villa suited us perfectly though I was puzzled to find a kettle, 2 small Turkish coffee cups, but no coffee/ tea/ sugar! We enjoyed the pool & all the staff were very friendly & helpful. What was extremely disappointing was the food. We were in Northern Cyprus, but 99% of the food was English, for ALL meals. Why does the hotel not serve Turkish food? The Turkish breakfast was, like the Moussaka, an apology for Ethnic food.Fortunately, we... more

I chose this hotel based on the reviews of others and the location photographs on the hotels website. The holiday to Cyprus was a last minute decision - decided on only 3 weeks before departure on 15th March. I wanted a location close to mountain scenery and with a view of the sea. This hotel satisfied both criteria and then some. We'd booked to stay for 16 days, an early 25th wedding anniversary holiday, the first week of which was without a car, which was a mistake. We spent most of the first week... more

My family and myself have just returned from our second trip to Bellapais Monastery Village and yet again it didn't disappoint. It's a fantastic hotel with great staff who are incredibly friendly and attentive. We felt that this was really important, particularly when travelling off-season as you had to spent quite a bit of time in the vicinity of the hotel. We stayed in one of the villas situation in the gardens. It was very spacious, with a bedroom upstairs. In addition to this, it was spotlessly... more

My husband and I decided very last minute that we could squeeze a few days off work and take a week holiday before the new year and Cyprus seemed a nice choice as neither of us had been here before. Having read the reviews on this site we finally decided on the Bellapais Monastery Hotel. We'd like to think that both of us are well travelled, so as you might imagine, we judge the places we stay quite rigorously! Never before have we found hotel staff to be so pleasant and generally cheerful, almost... more

A friend and I were desperate to leave an England plunging into winter behind, and head off for a week of late sunshine and relaxing. That is exactly what we found at Bellapais. The villas are a quirky upstairs/downstairs arrangement, with good airconditioning and tables and chairs for relaxing outdoors on each bungalow's individual patio space. Rooms were well cleaned promptly every day, just one example of the great service level encountered by staff there. In general staff were very friendly,... more

This hotel is fantastic hotel, and a must for all visitors to Kyrenia visit unless your idea of a good time is a 24 hour drinks binge, in which case this may not be your cup of tea. Breakfast [which is available from 6 thirty until 10 o' clock] is served at your table and freshly cooked- eliminating the risk of being served old bacon as is common in many cheaper hotels. The pool is perfect for swimming or just splashing around with the kids in the sunshineLunch and dinner time we were served fresh... more

We went there for a wedding in June, stayed 4 days. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The hotel itself was clean and tidy and well presented. Staff were still up at 1am when we finally got there and were only too happy to help with our luggage and show us where our rooms were. Fabulous views, centrally located and the staff will make sure you can get around easily.... more

This hotel is very good, great location above Kyrenia, with a hotel bus to/from town 3 times a day. Bellepais village (Monastery + restaurants etc) is quite a long walk, mostly uphill, so beware of that. The staff are excellent, generally with good spoken English - restaurant was very good, fine variety for breakfasts (& freshly cooked to order) and we ate dinner there 2 nights from 3, (first night we arrived too late thanks to Luton airport chaos!), very good value, choice and quality (half-board... more

Not every hotel would bother to make sure late arrivals had some food, but the Bellapais made sure we had dinner on arrival, very much welcomed by myself and my ever-hungry partner! The Bellapais was being redecorated and refreshed fro the summer months, but the work never interfered with a very restful and enjoyable stay. After all, it would take an army of decorators to block such a wonderful view down the mountain to the coast. Our villa was spacious and remarkably warm even on the chillier nights,... more

Thanks to Jayne Butcher from Go North Cyprus and the www.northcyprushotels.co.uk we enjoyed a very pleasantly and cultured, easy going, great value for money, non eurozone holiday in the TRNC. As Azil Nadir would say about the Bellapais Monastery Village and also the Hideaway Club, this is luxury you can afford....The mountains and castles are great, the coastal strip around Kyrenia, your sea view, perhaps less so. Plenty of short walks if you have the Alison's Dewey book of Walks of in North Cyprus... more

We enjoyed two weeks in Kyrenia at the Bellapais Monastery Village hotel. The hotel offers a wide range of rooms, but we stayed in one of the villas. The villas are 97 steps from the pool and restaurant, which was the only problem with the accommodations. All the public areas were clean. The rooms were cleaned daily with linen changes. The food was perfect, so credit must be given to the chef and staff for making it hot and giving us a wide range of choices. Some guests were less than amicable.... more

No wonder the Bellapais Monastery Village is near a village with a Tree of Idleness, you really can chill out here and just relax! The hotel is cleverly constructed up the side of the mountain, to make the most of the fabulous views. From the pool area, (including a shallow round one for children) you can lie back and look across the rooftops (plus the local football pitch, and water tanks) down to the coastline below, and the mountains behind seem to cradle you in their hands. However, this does... more

My partner and I recently got married after finishing our degree courses and buying a new house. As the move was pretty expensive we only had a very short honeymoon and thought now was a good time to book a deal and come away to make up for it. Our travel agent suggested the Bellapais Monastery Village as a good place for couples to stay and after a little price haggling we bagged a great package deal. My partner had visited Cyprus before but this would be my first trip out. First impressions of... more

Location! Location! Location! This hotel complex has the best situation anywhere in Kyrenia. The views are fantastic over the town, sea and new harbour. It is a pleasant 20-25 minute walk up to the Abbey which is well worth a visit as it is so pretty. The town is 45 minutes pleasant walk, or you can use the hotel bus which is very reliable. The restaurant and food were very good in the hotel complex serving mainly British food, although there was a Cypriot night with local foods and dancing. We... more

We found the hotel to be very well run and looked after. The staff were extremely helpful and virtually everybody there spoke fluent and clear English which helped us out a lot. We were very positive when we arrived as the weather was great and the kids were also excited about getting in to the pool after we'd settled in. Once we'd found our villa we noticed that it looked a little run down and worn, but to be honest it was very clean and the bed linen and towels were spotless. One of the main downsides... more

The Bellapais Monastery Village has a good location, with views down to the coast and attentive staff,, but it's time for some overdue maintenance. My shower had ceiling paint that was peeling, there were cracked tiles on some of the many steps, and no wifi anywhere. Poor water pressure meant you had more of a dribble than a shower in the mornings. To be fair, our room was clean and tidy, and the air con was surprisingly effective, but not not five star standard by European standards. I suspect... more

I was so much looking forward to my holiday to North Cyprus and in many ways it was fantastic. The hotel was very nice with a lovely restaurant and really friendly staff who were not stuck up at all. They made us very welcome, got us everything we needed and were always smiling. The pool and the sun deck were really great. There were plenty of sunbeds and space for everyone. The bus ran into town during the day, but at night there was not much going on for younger people. The bar tenders were fun,... more

I had originally booked our vacation at another location, but learned that location has some issues. Switching to Bellapais was the best thing we could have done. We got to the hotel late in the evening, yet they still found food to serve us dinner when we stated we were famished. Definitely great choices in meals for all hours. We stayed in a villa looking out at Kyrenia- plenty of room and air conditioning. There was a pool; plenty of staff on hand for beverages and even snacks. We didn't... more
