I had a fantastic stay at the Dome Hotel in Kyrenia in mid-November. Although the hotel does not look too impressive from the outside, its interior is simply astonishing and its location is perfect to discover the region. The hotel was extremely clean (I am German :)), the staff extraordinary friendly (going the extra mile), the breakfast buffet exceptional (including a selection of ten varieties of Olives) and the flowers were changed every day. Unfortunately, I only stayed for four days, but I... more

The Dome is very handily sited on the seafront just a 100 yards from the harbour area and the shops. Aspects of it are somewhat dated (eg some of the bathrooms are small and not very user friendly - this does not refer to ALL bathrooms). The bedrooms themselves are well furnished and comfortable. Staff throughout are efficient and friendly and breakfast is an excellent meal - well cooked and served in buffet style. My wife and I have had two visits over the lst 2 years and will certainly... more

The Dome is old and owner / run by the staff and they do a good job. Our room was clean with a beautiful view over the sea and pool area..the bar staff were very good, and the food as good as you needed. All in all with its excellent location and good room rates its hard to beat as you do not need to hire a car to get around Girne. Most of the staff have been there years and have seen it all and do not get fazed AND tell you the truth which is a good thing in the hotel business!!... more

We visited northern Cyprus in June and we loved our stay at the Dome Hotel. Unlike some others, we appreciate the great architecture of this older hotel that was built in the 1930's. Yes, it's dated, but the walls are so thick that you never hear noises from the corridor or outside. You can't say that about most hotels these days! Our room was clean and we had good working air and the bathroom fixtures all worked well, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a prime hotel. It's located in the Northern... more

This is an older hotel situated in the heart of the North Cyprus town of Kyrenia, only a short distance from the harbour. It was built in the 1930's and it shows it's age in places but on the upside, the walls are solidly built – much better than they do today in modern hotels – meaning that when you are in your room, you never hear any noise from the street or from other rooms. The rooms at the Dome Hotel were kept clean and the service was excellent so even though the place could use a little... more

I stayed at The Dome Hotel 4 nights in June. It was very clean. Food was excellent. Sea view rooms were very quiet. Internet was working very well all the time. However, the safe where I was supposed to put my belongings wasn't working and I had to out some personal styff at the reception. Unfortunately, most of the receptionsts were not that friendly as they consistently looked very stressed out which was quite unpleasant. Otherwise, things were generally smooth.... more

I stayed in mid-June 2011 and found the hotel to be, although in need of a lick of paint here and there, very pleasant and perfectly situated. I had a great sea view (and they have covered the roof of the dining room with astroturf!) The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.... more

we booked the dome hotel for a 4 night stay because all other hotels were fully booked !!!!!we now know why the dome was available. Our room was with a seaview which was very nice, the room was not upto the standard of a 4 star. noisy air con, hard beds that must have been from when the hotel opened in the 30's, the safe did not work, we asked at reception several times for someone to check it, but it never happened. This is our fourth stay at this lovely old hotel. This place was built a while ago, so it's not as modern as some, but if you like architecture and love the old style of hotels, look no further. The Dome Hotel is fabulous! They have updated some things a couple of years ago so it's not completely outdated but you still get the feel of being in a historical-type atmosphere. The Dome is surrounded on three sides by water, so pretty much everywhere you look, you see ocean. My wife and I think... more

We had the unpleasant experience of having to stay one night at the Dome until a room was avaialbe at the Colony. Terrible place, awful room, dirty bathroom, old building in desperate need of rebuild. There are fantastic hotels in Kyrenia and there is no need ot stay in a dump like this. There is no excuse in this day and age to endure hotels like this on a holiday. If I had booked ot stay here I would have been most dissapointed.Poollside is OK, but the whole place has a concrete jungle look about... more

The staff and location of the Dome Hotel were fantastic. Taking into consideration that the hotel is very old I would like to recommend that they invest in new pillows and blankets. I would definitely put only three stars on this hotel. The water pressure was good and the bathrooms were clean but quite old. The room had a very musky closed smell that didn't go away even with the doors to the balcony were left open. The breakfast was just okay, nothing special. The best thing about the hotel... more

We stayed in the Dome for a week in November and thoroughly enjoyed our visit -this is the fourth time we have stayed at this hotel. It is ideally located being only a short walk to the harbour where there are many restaurants and bars right on the seafront. The service was OK, but the breakfast left a lot to be desired, not a lot of choice, no criosants, jams etc and you were left to your own divices. No waiter service at the table, outside or inside. The outside area was really dated and could do with a facelift, the smell from the outside toilets next to the swimming pool was quite strong and needs cleaning daily. No English TV, however, would consider staying again.... more

Here's our review of our stay at the Dome Hotel which we visited in early September. My friend and I had been charged around about £110 per night for 4 nights stay at the Dome Hotel. Im very sorry to say that I was less than impressed from the very outset. When we arrived I was quite shocked to see that this is a four star level hotel. We had a room with sea view on the fourth floor. It was quiet and comfortable and the staff always very helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for seeing the harbour without being located in it, particularly in the evenings. The breakfast and bar are good and the swimming facilities excellent and very clean. One small concern; the aircon needs an upgrade. We stayed at the Dome in June 2010. Our original stay was planned for 10 days but lasted only 3. You can't beat the location - right on the sea front and close to the Marina for a stroll in the evening. The front of house area is fine - clean and tidy - and the pool is excellent. Food is average to low - pretty ordinary and not that hot, but plenty of it. The rooms are very tired - carpeted instead of cool tiles. The Dome was just as I remembered it 50 years ago but with the expected changes to bring it up to 2010 standards. As in previous reviews, the location of this hotel is currently second to none in Kyrenia. We arrived late on Saturday evening. Our room, number 403, was very small, dismal and quite dated although we did have a sea view. In the light of day, you could see that the room had seen far better days and it was very tatty. The Dome Hotel was all I could have wished for. My room overlooked the sea, and I was lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves breaking below me. A comfortable room, newly refurbished, a delicious buffet breakfast made all the better by helpful waiters who served me at my table because I find it difficult to walk without my stick - but the highlight was the seawater swimming pool, with its easy to manage steps, which meant that half my day was spent in the sea! We agree that the hotel is in need of some refurbishment but there there was a lot of work in progress. The staff went to a lot of trouble to satisfy any request. Our room was comfortable and kept very clean; fresh towels and sheets each day. One critism was that the air conditioning was turned off. They said it would be turned on in May. The Dome is in a prime location with fabulous views and short walk to lovely old harbour of Kyrenia. However, it is now looking very shabby and in desperate need of a revamp. The position of the Dome Hotel is superb being right on the waterfront, close to all the good restaurants and although on a busy road the noise disappears as soon as you enter its portals. What surprised me was how people seemed to expect every hotel to be absolutely perfect! Having stayed here on previous occasions not much has changed, and that might be the problem for anyone who has never been to North Cyprus, and who might expect a spick and span modern hotel. We had 4 nights at the Dome hotel which occupies an unrivalled position close to the harbour and on the sea front, with an excellent swimming pool situated on a natural rock promontory. However, that is the end of the good things we can say about the hotel. The building is very ugly, and the rooms are small and tired in their decor (think swirly carpets!). We arrived late at night at the Dome Hotel and found there had been a slight mix up in that my nephew and myself had been accommodated in one room whereas I had thought I had booked for two rooms. However the receptionist was very helpful and found a room where my nephew could spend the night, and later on found a very nice room with a view of the sea where he stayed for the rest of our visit. We spent a week in April at the Dome. The location is excellent, the accommodation clean and comfortable, the staff very helpful. Very good value, in spite of the current pressure on sterling. Two small things would have made a big difference. We have stayed at the Dome Hotel for the last five years, simply because we like it so much! Staying at the Dome was like staying in an old club, all creaking floors, soft carpets, and unobtrusive staff. The Dome was the best hotel when the British ruled here - it still has that slightly musty, old fashioned feel, despite its Art Deco style curves and corners, and some of the guests looked like they had never left!
