We have stayed twice at the 'Oscar' and enjoyed each visit. The staff are so efficient and go out of their way to please. Lovely sea view double room and we will certainly stay there again. We would have liked a selection of wines as we are wine drinkers. The location is great and we enjoyed either travelling on the Oscar train or walking into Kyrenia. The weather for February was acceptable - 3 lovely days and dry for the rest of the week which enabled us to sit on our balcony and watch the... more

The hotel suited us very well. The room was spacious and well situated. It was equipped with a kettle, cups and spoons, for making hot drinks, however very little drinking water provided, which even after we asked for more was never replaced. The security guards actively discouraged food or drink to be taken in to the hotel, which made it difficult to get tea, coffee, milk, water etc in to make drinks. This is the only thing that would deter us from going back to this hotel. Apparently at one... more

We were made very welcome during our recent stay. The staff were always incredibly helpful, the facilities were great. It was wonderful to be able to have a choice of pools in which to swim as well as a private beach area. The taxis to and from the centre of Kyrenia were usualy very prompt and always very reasonably priced. The only down side for us was the food, which after a time became extrememely monotous and boring. This was particularly tue of the evning meals, so much so, that despite being... more

The Oscar Resort Hotel, located in Kyrenia, is very appealing to our family. We've been back time and time again to allow the children to have fun in the three swimming pools – which come complete with aquaslides, much to their delight. Meanwhile, we tend to relax in the spa - or simply soak up the sun! Situated next to the new harbour, right on the waterfront, Oscar Resort Hotel enjoys a private garden setting, an easy ride on the 'road train' from the centre of Kyrenia town. The transfer time from... more

First time visit to Northern Cyprus. Oscar Resort was just perfect for kids with its pools. Very friendly staff who accommodated any small issues we had. I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, friendly staff, wonderful buffet breakfast and location to many off resort tourist attractions. We were very pleased to find that the meat served in Northern Cyprus is Halal. Had a great time at Oscar, made many friends and would definitely be returning soon.... more

Very good accomodation, evening meals not very good, breakfast very good although not really to English tastes. Hotel maintenance awful, mini bar didn't work on arrival and countless requests were ignored by staff, after about 3 days the mini bar was replaced but wasn't tested so still didn't work, own investigation revealed no power at the plug, simple really, after informing the staff several times what was actually wrong the fault was finally fixed. Shame that as a guest I had to sort out the... more

Overall a good holiday but certain things could be improved. The Hotel seems to be under a refurb but the pool areas and sunbeds are very tired and in need of urgent attention. When we went for breakfast regardless of time, there were many tables not laid out for guests, despite the fact that there was several members of staff that appeared to be doing nothing. These members of staff did not wear white shirts but coloured shirts which seemed to indicate a higher rank ?The Entertainment team... more

The welcome was warm and polite. Good English to communicate. The room we have got was beautiful but didn't fit our special needs (staircase inside). The replacement was just as good, overlooking the sea side, clean, good AC. Cleaning and maintenance had been made to fit our convenience. Minibar was reach although never been used... easy safe box, good TV screen with quite poor channels.Breakfast was fresh and rich. Dinner buffet was tried once with the mark of 7.5 in scale of 1-10.Swimming pools... more

We had a 2 level gallery room which was really nice with a beautiful sea view. The beds could have been more comfortable. We were the first guests after a full renovation of the room. 2 of the 3 outdoor pools were open but unfortunately the wave pool wasn't open and the small beach was being worked on. We found that there was enough variety at the breakfast buffet that there was no need to eat the same thing each day unless you wanted to and not everything was available every day. The accommodation was excellent and food as good as buffet service can be. Staff excellent very helpful and attentive. The rooms were warm comfortable and of a good standard, the only slight grumble was the fact that although a kettle and cups were provided for making hot drinks the tea, coffee etc had to be bought from reception so take your own. Shuttle train into centre very good but easy to walk also. A good choice of internet options at a reasonable price but check your mobile phone provider... more

Our Club Balcony room overlooking the 'wave' pool was a good size and accommodated 3 peoplecomfortably. The seaviews from the balcony were lovely. The bathroom needed updating and the downstairs lounge could do with more lighting - some people like to read in bed and this was impossible. On the upside, the beds were extremely comfortable, there was enough wardrobe space and it was spotlessly clean. To those who complain about the tea making facilities - there is a kettle and I would suggest... more

The customer care we received from the guest relations before we arrived was great, we had some requests before we arrived and they were all taken care of just as we asked. On arrival at the hotel, we were given our keys and were upgraded to lovely 2 level seaview rooms right next door to each other which was a lovely start to our holiday. My husband and I took our daughter on holiday and chose to visit northern cyprus recently and we stayed at the Oscar Hotel. We loved it!! We were originally shown to a room that had three single beds instead of the 2 doubles we'd asked for, so that was a slight inconvenience; in addition, we were told that it would be several days before we could switch to a better room due to the hotel being booked to full capacity. Since we were planning a full two week stay, we said no problem, as long as... more

We arrived late evening and were greeted by curtious, friendly hotel staff. The room was on two levels. The lower had a king size bed with flat screen TV. After a shaky start we enjoyed our stay very much. My main concern was that although we booked October 2010 and stated that we wanted to be next to or above our daughter and children we were actually put in the next block - NOT what we wanted! There were empty rooms all around so I think the booking staff do not take on board what people want. All technical problems (ie, key cards did not work many, many times) were seen to fairly quickly but I did not like having our rooms left to be cleaned until... more

The staff are a good team and helpfull, the reception area is good but with tired furniture, the rooms are really in need of TLC. The food ok. The grounds are nice and the view of the med is great, go outside to get to Kyrenia and you might think your in a war zone with trash and part built or empty buildings strewn with rubbish all around. Definately not 4star, go to Florida and get better on 2star. Very dissappointing.... more

The hotel is a bit isolated from Kyrenia centre and it is quite obvious that the management want you to stay on site, where prices are somewhat inflated. The pools though are fantastic but the water slide times of operation are regulated by an attendant who had a dictatorial complex. The family pool side room was well appointed, clean and of a good size. It's just a shame that the workmanship, especially in the bathroom was somewhat lacking with missing screws in the shower soap holder, tiles... more

We spent a week here in September 2010 having motored up from the south. The hotel took a little bit of finding as we had never been to North Cyprus before but once there, it was well worth it. The balcony room overlooking the port @ £24 a night bed & breakfast was very good value, the room etc. was well maintained and the choice of breakfast food was too good to miss. Upon choosing to book a week at the Oscar Resort this August, my husband and I were so excited about how smart it looked and how much it had to offer for our young children. However, on arrival, it came clear that the hotel wasn't going to live up to our expectations. Perhaps this was our fault for being too over enthusiastic but we just felt that 4 star resort should offer more. The hotel did have a lot of facilities: the pools were amazing, as was the hotel's beach. With late bookings I guess you get what you pay for, and our break at Oscar Resort Hotel was pretty much on the money. We wanted a cheap spring break in the sunshine, and thought northern Cyprus would be cheaper than south Cyprus, which turned out to be partly true. Filthy surroundings and unkempt gardens did not give a good impression as we made our way to our "mini villa"-inside things were worse-curtains hanging off the rails, air conditioning that did not work-the previous inmate's things in fridge, very worn and shabby furniture, overall grubby-perhaps the hotel is different but I was very happy to leave. The "beach" is a dumping ground for big black plastic bags and there has to be a sewer running into the sea close by due to the small and effluent in... more

None of us had been to Cyprus before and the children were really looking forward to a few days in the warm sun while their friends back home were wrapping up warm. When we arrived in October, the Oscar Resort had obviously been used long and hard during the summer. Our room's carpet needed a really good clean, and the toilet leaked, but this was fixed on the first day. Bathroom could have been cleaner, and grout needed replacing. There were some cracked tiles around the pool area too, which were a hazard.Having said that, the hotel generally was what I expected from a tourist hotel in Cyprus; plenty of food if not the most exciting, high priced drinks, polite... more
