We booked the Oscar Resort for a family holiday with our two boys, and just wanted a week in the sunshine in a hotel with enough stuff to entertain the children. We certainly got the sunshine - North Cyprus was really hot at the end of July!!The resort gardens were nice and the grounds well kept, and I felt happy to let the boys run around without worrying about them all the time. They enjoyed the waterslides and pools, although I would have been happier if the equipment had been better maintained.... more
Nice set up. Variety of swimming pools (3) ideal for the kids. Bungalow was adequate for two people but sofa bed for two more was a bit basic. Self catering facilities were basic too. As a base to explore is was ideal but a car is essential. Reception needs the air-con repairing too. Air-con in the room was a life saver. Good value if you're not too fussy. Pleasant staff.... more
We had great holiday at Oscar Hotel in Kyrenia. it was one of the best holidays we had with my boyfriend. Staff was fun and helpful. Rooms were clean and daily was cleaned. Food and drinks were not too expensive than outside. Pools were even greater. we enjoyed it a lot. There are things that could be better. For example, to provide shuttle bus service to the city center more frequently since it is a bit far from the center. Thanks a lot for the great holiday!!!... more
With late bookings I guess you get what you pay for, and our break at Oscar Resort Hotel was pretty much on the money. We wanted a cheap spring break in the sunshine, and thought northern Cyprus would be cheaper than south Cyprus, which turned out to be partly true. Drinks were more expensive than we'd thought, but food was definately cheaper, and our room deal at Oscar's would have cost a lot more in south Cyprus I'm sure. The building work on the way to the hotel is a bit of an eyesore, but the... more
Filthy surroundings and unkempt gardens did not give a good impression as we made our way to our "mini villa"-inside things were worse-curtains hanging off the rails, air conditioning that did not work-the previous inmate's things in fridge, very worn and shabby furniture, overall grubby-perhaps the hotel is different but I was very happy to leave. The "beach" is a dumping ground for big black plastic bags and there has to be a sewer running into the sea close by due to the small and effluent in... more
We were impressed with all the facilities, the lovely little amphitheatre near the water the three outdoor pools and the indoor pool which was so luxurious and reminded me of a Turkish Bath. We loved that food and drink were available throughout the day as we tend to do things at odd hours. We had a self-catering flat in the pink court. Located on the top floor, we had a wonderful view of the Mediterranean.... more
Being university students we were a bit strapped for cash when we were looking for a reasonably priced break after Christmas. All three of us had been to Cyprus before but no one had visited the Oscar Resort, which seemed to come with average to good reviews when we checked. We booked a single week and hoped for the best considering it was January. What we found was a clean and tidy hotel that was run by helpful and polite staff who were happy to help us get the most out of our stay at the Oscar... more
Having had an expensive year with the recent floods we decided a summer holiday was too expensive this year and decided to try the winter sun break we found advertised in the window of the travel agent. None of us had been to Cyprus before and the children were really looking forward to a few days in the warm sun while their friends back home were wrapping up warm. The flights took a little longer than expected due to an 'unforeseen delay' at the airport, but as soon as we arrived we were shown... more
When we arrived in October, the Oscar Resort had obviously been used long and hard during the summer. Our room's carpet needed a really good clean, and the toilet leaked, but this was fixed on the first day. Bathroom could have been cleaner, and grout needed replacing. There were some cracked tiles around the pool area too, which were a hazard.Having said that, the hotel generally was what I expected from a tourist hotel in Cyprus; plenty of food if not the most exciting, high priced drinks, polite... more
Luke and I have stayed at the Oscar Resort 3 times and enjoyed it every time. There are 4 pools on the premises, including an indoor one. The indoor pool was a little busy, leaving the outdoor pools comfortable for sunbathing. My husband and I booked a villa this trip finding it adequate for our needs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The prices have increased since last year, which was a bit of a shock. They are high compared to the state of the hotel. A few renovations and the price... more
We have just come back from a great value holiday on the outskirts of Kyrenia. Booked a last minute sunshine holiday and it was one of the best holidays I ever had. Me and 3 girlfriends took off and stayed at the Oscar Resort which was just fantastic. The rooms were luxurious with plenty of space. It was right near the beach and the town of Kyrenia and we could walk to the harbour area in just a few minutes. The shopping was brilliant for cheap silver and copper jewelry, leather purses, clothes... more
We took our holiday in TRNC for a week in the sun before the school rush, as we have two girls under the age of 5. Couldn't believe it when we got upgraded to a suite, and it did give us all extra space. Very clean too.Buffet style dinner was useful as it meant the girls could pick their own food (with help) and I think they actually ate more as a result. (The younger one is normally fussy.) Staff were very kind to the girls, always happy to help if they could and genuinely delighted to see them... more
Took a self catering apartment in the Pink Court at oscars for the family to save money on the summer holiday. The 'mini villa' was in need of some renovation and the kitchen was small with only two rings to cook on. Mind you, we still managed to cook meals for four of us on a couple of nights, and having your own fridge was a definate advantage. We stocked up at the supermarket opposite the hotel which was well geared up for tourist needs, from milk to mosquito repellants! It also saved a lot of... more
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in North Cyprus. I was worried about taking a 4-year old but he loved it and there was so much for us all to do. The Oscar Resort is huge and has the best facilities. It has the only wave pool in North Cyprus, and my son loved the toy train. We went down on the beach until it got too hot, and then came back and cooled off in one of the pools. There is also an Aquapark right on site which all the children loved, and if they are happy, we are happy. The... more
Oscar Resort Hotel is OK hotel, but not best. Registration took a long time, and staff did not speak German, only little English. The restaurant menu was OK but not very good choice, and sometimes cold food was served. There was not much leisure activity, and there were no good shops close to the hotel, but Kyrenia town is close and you can walk there. My room was not very clean but when I said this to the reception, it was better cleaned the next day. Next hotel on the beach the Vuni Palace hotel... more
Went to Oscar Resort on short winter break with old mates, having stayed in TRNC before. Enjoyed the heated indoor pool, health club, sauna, steam room, bars, beers. Food good if not exceptional, staff friendly and not rushed. My bedroom needed redecorating, but it was clean and comfy. Kyrenia town is an easy walk away so you can choose between hotel or local places to eat - drinks are much cheaper locally. (Word of warning, not every restaurant is open for lunch in March.) Beach is not a proper... more
