Oscar Resort Hotel Review - 16 of 79 Reviews

We booked the Oscar Resort for a family holiday with our two boys, and just wanted a week in the sunshine in a hotel with enough stuff to entertain the children. We certainly got the sunshine - North Cyprus was really hot at the end of July!!

The resort gardens were nice and the grounds well kept, and I felt happy to let the boys run around without worrying about them all the time. They enjoyed the waterslides and pools, although I would have been happier if the equipment had been better maintained. Piped music by the pool got very repetitive, but kept the atmosphere lively. We spent much of our days by the pool, and the boys made lots of new friends while I worked my way through 3 books, 6 magazines and a couple of Sudoku puzzles!

Our villa was absolutely fine for us, although the lack of cooking stuff in the kitchen suggested that very few people actually cooked, and to be honest, in that heat, we didn't either. However, it did mean the boys could have snacks and stuff on hand, and a box of cereal proved useful for late-night munchies. They certainly didn't need it for breakfast, which was a vast buffet with everything from boiled eggs to cheese pies, so the boys piled their plates and their dad did his best to eat the rest single-handed! The villa's tv stations were mostly Turkish so I was glad the boys had their PSPs for chill-down time, etc.

The local supermarket (Lemar) was good for snacks and water, and we found nice restaurants in Kyrenia - best idea is to catch the last little train of the afternoon in and get a taxi back. We were also pleased that the boys were welcomed wherever we ate, even if all they ever wanted to eat were kebabs or Turkish pizzas!
