Hi guys, I thought I'd add my take on the Rocks hotel in Northern Cyprus as my wife, my son and my eldest daughter booked to stay here for the Christmas period as we wanted to try something different this year. Our second visit to this hotel.A wonderful hotel, some rooms need a refit as they have wear and tear, might have been done by now ! We changed from our allocated room on our second visit, after one night.Main buffet restaurant and food excellent, service rather slow for a 5 star hotel at breakfast, but we did not have breakfast in bed. Ther room was like a sauna when we arrived late at night. The heating regulator was faulty but they refused to recognise this for nearly an hour and then they told us to sleep with the room door and window open to reduce the heat. They said there was no aircon , only central heating, BUT the lobbies of both blocks were delightfully cool with the air con. functioning. Loved the hotel - smart and 5 star but staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet as good as you'd expect (superb choice), had lunch a couple of times by the pool - very good - would have liked a few more 'lighter' choices and maybe just a hummus salad and pitta option.The sunbathing area is one of the nicest I've stopped in - the sound of the waves under the decking is soooo relaxing ... and the sea area to swim in great.Hotel is clean and towls changed very regularly (3 times if required)... more
We stayed at the hotel for two nights during the week as it was our wedding anniversary.The room we were allocated was a sea view and overlooked the pool area across the street. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. We were on half board basis. The selection and quality of food at both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. We loved the Rocks Hotel! First of all, let me compliment the staff on their truly excellent service. Immediately upon arrival in north cyprus, I realized I had left my medicine that I must take daily at home. One phone call to the front desk, and 15 minutes later they were knocking on my door with replacements, purchased from the local pharmacy. Admittedly luxurious but lacked atmosphere, no entertainment or information on surrounding area. Staff were friendly and helpful although took time to sort out any queries. We were only B & B and found the location ideal for exploring and eating out but as above no entertainment provided to entice one to stay in of an evening. My wife and I are frequent visitors to the North Of Cyprus, it is very handy for us as we live on the South side of the Island just an hours drive door to door. we normally stay at the same Hotel but on this occasion it was fully booked for the dates we requested. We decided to try the Rocks and my goodness how pleased we are that we did! From arrival to departure we thought we were in another world. This is our 3rd stay at the Rocks, however our last stay was 6 years ago.We have been to Kyrenia 7 times in total, but in our opinion this hotel is easily the best and worth the money.My husband and i love the location as it is so centralOur room was in the new part so extremely spacious, spotlessly clean with all the fixtures and fittings in tip top condition.My only criticism is we booked half board with the view that the hotel would let us have lunch as we prefer to dine out in the evening due... more
This hotel couldn't be in a better location right on the seafront and within a few minutes walk of shops bars restaurants etc.The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with good quality toiletries in the well equipped bathroom.The staff are very friendly and are happy to help in any way they can.We had lunch on our arrival which was excellent and my friends and I thought the buffet breakfast was amongst the best we have had and we have all stayed in many excellent hotels.Kyrenia is a small resort... more
Stayed at the Rocks Hotel for 10 nights, fantastic hotel a little disappointed with the bathroom, we had a standard room which was good but the shower was disappointing.The pool was amazing and the service around the pool was second to none.Breakfast was first class with a very good choice and served until 11-30 each morning.Didn't try the restaurant, watch Rockannes bar can be over price and as the night goes on seemed to get more expensive there are a few bars just up the road a lot cheaper. This hotel is one of the more expensive ones in northern cyprus (Kyrenia), with a higher price tag than most, so when my husband and I stayed here recently, I expected much more and was somewhat disappointed. The rooms were outdated and badly needed upgrading. The carpet in our room was stained and dirty, the fixtures in the bathroom leaked, the grout was dirty, and the furnishings were old. Stayed for 3 nights in one of the most lovliest hotels I have stayed, staff were kind and thoughtful and the rooms were spacious, clean, tidy and very comfortable and the breakfast was, what can I say out of this world, I challenge anyone not to find something suitable from the vast choice to start their day off at this hotel. We spent 6 days in the Rocks Hotel, the suite was excellent with beautiful unrestricted views of the Med. Room service was prompt and efficient, though the same could not be said for the restaraunt during breakfast, the weekend brings a large influx of people and the staff at breakfast time we found were unable to cope or multi task. We stayed here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The buffet was so good that we even had it on our anniversary instead of going somewhere romantic and special as planned. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the massage I had in the spa was very good. My boyfriend and I came into some money so decided to treat ourselves with a 2 week holiday to North Cyprus. We were looking for the best and the Rocks Hotel seemed to fit the bill. We only stayed one brief night but found the hotel lived up to its five stars. Our room was large and comfortable (loved the sheets!) with fabulous view of the sea. Staff were all very attentive and polite. Weather was awful so did not sample the pool although it looks nice. Me and my husband spent 7 days in the hotel. We had to change our room because the aircondition center in the back yard made a terrible noise even when you had closed the window. The staff was very helpfull, offered another room and this one was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent. Best of all we enyojed the private beach with its comfortable accomodation. The Rocks is a hotel with a bit of an identity crises - is it for businessmen or tourists? (Or gamblers, come to that?) We found that it had the spotlessly clean rooms and standards of a business hotel, the well maintained pool and outdoor spaces of a tourist hotel (which is a good thing in the sunny TRNC spring), but the prices of a gambling hotel for drinks! My two weeks holiday at the Rocks Hotel was just what I wanted. The weather was pleasant and the sunshine was very welcome after what we had escaped from, but there was always a cool breeze. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the staff treated us like royalty! The hotel was actually very empty, but I think they would have treated us the same even if it had been full. Looking for sunshine, my partner and I stayed at the Rocks Hotel in Kyrenia, and we had lots of sunshine in August! very hot, so we used the swimming pool many times, and were pleased our air conditioning made the bedroom cool at night. I arrived for a week with my daughter and we were immediately impressed by the reception staff. They spoke reasonable English and were very pleasant and professional. The Rocks is a great hotel if you want to be right in the middle of Kyrenia town. From the hotel its an easy walk down to the harbour and to the shops and sights.The Rocks is a smart international-style hotel that seems to have a lot of business conferences and meetings, so as a 'tourist' you have the pool pretty much to yourself until after lunch. .
