This is a hotel review for Merit Hotel Lefkosa in Nicosia, North Cyprus

“The hotel with the rudest staff in the world!”

As I was in the neighbourhood, I thought I would drop in to this hotel to see what all the fuss was about. The hotel looks modern from the outside with a sleek interior, but unfortunately the glamour ends there...

The staff all seemed to be miserable, not one could crack a slight glimpse of a smile and if you fail to notice the cracked faces then you won't miss the rudeness of the front desk and casino desk staff that are placed here to prevent customers coming in. There were more staff in the lobby than guests and I was very quickly beginning to understand why this hotel was so empty... It only took a few minutes before I was surrounded by 4 staff members requesting that I provide a photo ID to enter the casino after doing so, I was then told I could not enter as I was wearing shorts on the day the temperature outside was 39C (it wasn't that much cooler inside as the air conditioning didn't seem to be working). After the staff made it very clear that guests were not welcome at this hotel, I very quickly left and can only assume the service gets worse the longer you stay.
