Malpas Hotel Kyrenia North Cyprus

This is a hotel review for Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus

“We'd suggest the Malpas without a worry”

The family and I have just returned from another delightful two week stay at the Malpas Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus. We should mention that this hotel wasnt of our own finding as it was suggested to meet our needs by Sue at gonorthcyprus holiday company. This trip was the fourth or fifth we've taken there in the past five years but this is the first time we've bothered to review our stay. We felt it was a bit mean of us not to give credit where credit is due, so here goes!

I'll start with the very minor negative points we picked out, in order to maintain a sense of impartiality- for what it's worth it did take us a while to think of anything wrong with our stay but perhaps we were caught up in the joys of the holiday. We did feel that there could be more variation in the menu at the hotel- when you're cooking a fresh buffet three times a day we appreciate that it won't always be nouveau cuisine but it would definitely be appreciated if the chefs could throw in one unique dish per day just to provide some contrast. Also (this will only apply if, like me, you're a bit of a stick in the mud) there was no toast served at breakfast. I can't complain too much about that really, but I've come to rely on it as a staple early morning snack and it was a bit jarring not to find any in the hotel.

The real stand-outs for us were the staff. It's surprising how much we would have been happy to overlook when greeted by such friendly and enthusiastic young people, even though in the end the hotel was kept in fantastic shape for our entire stay. There were a couple of occasions when the taxis we had booked for various day trips failed to arrive and the reception staff managed to get us transport within minutes to prevent us from missing out. This was greatly appreciated, so a big thankyou to them for that.

Finally, although the beaches nearby are not the very best in Cyprus, we found them to be reasonably quiet this time around and were able to get great spots for our towels as well as a surprisingly good standard of food at the beach vendors. All in all a fantastic holiday.

Liked — Great staff with a great attitude
Disliked — not that we didnt enjoy it, but the menu could have had more variation
