My Wife and I visited North Cyprus for the first time last year and stayed at Green Holiday Village. Being on a budget, we'd needed inexpensive accomodations but obviously we wanted something nice too. I can honestly say we were extremely pleased with our accomodations at Green Holiday Village.

The room was exceptional - clean and comfortable with tasteful furnishings. Much nicer than other places we've stayed on a similar budget. The staff was very happy to answer any questions we had or to assist us in any way they could. They spoke English well enough so that there was no problem communicating, and when we checked in, they were kind enough to show us to our room and assist us with luggage, something that often isn't done much anymore, unless you pay dearly for the service.

The Green Holiday Village grounds were as nice as our room, with lush landscaping and beautifully manicured gardens. The hotel bar was outstanding and the swimming pool was well maintained. We enjoyed every minute of our stay while on the grounds or in our room.

Trying to sightsee was another matter, however. The location of the hotel is less than ideal in Northern Cyprus, with the only bus stop located across a busy highway that is difficult to cross on foot. Unless you are willing to rent a car, you'll find yourself at a disadvantage at this hotel. The harbour is too far to walk, but it's a must-see if you're in this area, so renting transportation might be your best option.

The local beaches are plentiful; however most are private beaches and require an admission fee to enter, something that those of us on a budget aren't prepared to do. If you're willing and able to walk a bit, you can find a nice beach or two that doesn't charge admission, but if you aren't in the mood to walk, you'll be stuck shelling out in order to sunbathe in the North Cyprus sun!

My advice is to plan for the expense of renting a car if you plan to stay at Green Holiday Village. The annoyance you'll save yourself is worth the extra expense and if you plan ahead, you'll know what to expect. The relaxation and comfort of the room and general atmosphere of Green Holiday Village make it an exceptional place to stay, if you can plan around the small annoyances of the busy street and lack of public beaches.
