British Hotel is a boutique hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus. Tucked up a pretty cobbled side street, the British Hotel is just behind historic Kyrenia harbour, with its restaurants, shops and cafés. This friendly hotel has recently been renovated, so every one of its 18 rooms has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV and really comfortable beds. The harbour views from the British Hotel's roof terrace are probably the best in Kyrenia!

We found the British Hotel though gonorthcyprus.com, the price and reviews were good so we booked in. It's not a luxurious hotel by any means but the setting is ideal for getting around. The room we had was basic but comfortable with good air con. The staff are welcoming and friendly, especially the manager, and our room had a fantastic view over the harbour. We were also pleased that the TV had a few English speaking channels. Great location for exploring the old town's winding cobbled streets.... more

We booked a short break at the British Hotel through GoNorthCyprus.com and Gary in sales got us a very good deal. We had a very comfortable and clean room on the third floor with a great view over the nearby harbour and a lovely little balcony. Breakfast was basic but sufficient and there's a reasonably priced minibar in the hotel room. Also coffee and tea making facilities, which was a bonus. Staff are friendly and helpful and the location is great for seeing the sights. The communal areas of the... more

We booked a break at the British Hotel through gonorthcyprus because the reviews were so good. We don't mind dated accommodation as long as the service standard is high and the location is good, so the British Hotel was ideal. Our room was basic but comfortable enough and everything was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find a few English speaking channels on the TV and there are coffee making facilities, which was handy and not always a given. A pleasant little place right by the harbour, the British Hotel was a good base for exploring Kyrenia. My wife and I stayed for a short break at the end of January into February and were able to relax and enjoy the setting. The staff are friendly and the room was sufficient for our needs, although if you want somewhere modern and luxurious this won't be for you! We were lucky to be quite high up in the hotel and got to enjoy a superb view of the harbour. Breakfast is also basic but plentiful and... more

We stayed at the British Hotel recently on a cheap break with gonorthcyprus. It's a basic base but we mainly booked for the location, which is superb. The hotel is set in the old harbour area and the views are great, we had a room on the third floor and loved looking out over the water from the balcony. The staff are lovely, helpful and polite and the hotel is relatively well kept. Useful to have free wifi, which worked quite well, especially in the lobby. Breakfast was adequate - cooked meats,... more

We've stayed at the British Hotel before, always through gonorthcyprus as they are experts in the area and find us the best deals. The location of the hotel is second to none, it is very convenient for exploring Girne and it's also relatively cheap. That said, if you prefer somewhere luxurious this might not be the place for you, it is a no-frills setup and everything is very basic. The hotel manager is lovely, very friendly, but the other staff are occupied with their work, so don't expect much... more

We booked in at the British Hotel with gonorthcyprus, mainly for the fantastic central setting but we were also very impressed with the hotel in other ways, as it turned out. First, the staff made us feel very welcome, they were polite and helpful during our whole stay. Next, the hotel is very clean and well kept, our room was spotless and very pleasant with all the modcons you need like kettle and hairdryer. Very comfortable overall and a bonus is the Wi-Fi, which we found worked reasonably well,... more

I recently spent a week at the British Hotel in Kyrenia after booking with gonorthcyprus. I hadn't been to the area before and wanted to be close to the action, which is the main reason the British Hotel was right for me. It is a fairly basic place, in need of a bit of a facelift, but the staff are friendly and the location is superb. I was pleased to be offered a pot of tea on arrival and found that the hotel would accept my UK money, which was very convenient. From my room, which was simple but... more

The British Hotel is a true 3-star place with the benefit of very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I booked a week in Cyprus with GoNorthCyprus.com and decided on the British Hotel as the location and the reviews were very good. I had a spacious, nicely appointed room with a small balcony, from which I could see the sea. This was fantastic and unexpected but very welcome. The hotel has a great location, close to all the sights - the harbour is literally one minute away on foot, so it's a great... more

Had not been to Kyrenia for a few years and was so looking forward to returning , Especially to this gem of a hotel . We booked an online deal through Go North Cyprus , they were considerably cheaper than other companies but what clinched it for us was the Private Taxi transfer, Last time we came , it was a coach transfer, so waiting for the coach to fill up then dropping off at 6 or 7 other hotels en-route to ours. For location you can't beat the British , 3 rd floor room with Balcony a must, breakfasts... more

As seasoned travellers we normally look for the local knowledge so were happy when we were recommended to try Go North Cyprus , Our brief was simple , Sea View and central , but within a budget, Sue recommended the British Hotel , tucked away in the backstreets of the harbour we were a little concerned until in our room and the view opened out ( we paid a little extra for 3rd Floor). The lack of pool didn't put us off at all , In fact we found that most hotels there were happy for you to use their... more

We've just returned from a week's break at the British Hotel, booked through GoNorthCyprus.com who really delivered when we said we wanted a cheap but great value getaway right in the heart of things. Well you couldn't get any closer to the centre of Kyrenia here! The harbour and castle are literally on the doorstep, daily boat trips from around 50tl (£10) inc lunch. there's a beach a few minutes away at the Dome Hotel (entry fee may apply) as there is no pool at British hotel. There are shops and... more

I chose this hotel for its location and it was perfect. I could be at the harbourside cafes and bars in two minutes, the shops and busses in five minutes, walking through meadering narrow lanes which are a delight. I chose a third floor room with harbour view and sat out on my balcony in the sunshine every morning at 7.00am for coffee, it was magical. The hotel is simple with few facilities and little use of English, but they are very obliging and my room was serviced every day. The evenings were... more

We were very happy with our stay at the British Hotel and found the staff to be warm and welcoming. Great position overlooking Kyrenia Harbour - the views from the rooftop terrace were amazing - and overall a clean and comfortable boutique hotel ideal for exploring the local area and further afield. We had a 10 night stay at the British Hotel. We chose this hotel for it's location and it couldn't be more perfect. The owner and staff were lovely and very helpful . There is no parking if you're hiring a car, but there is free parking around the castle walls, which is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Some aspects of the hotel needs a little attention, but overall it was clean and comfortable, and very reasonably priced given the location. We stayed on the third floor and it was a joy... more

A quirky little hotel right on the harbour. Clean, though rooms could do with a little decorating (peeling wallpaper, re-grouting of tiles in bathroom). Beds changed every two days which was lovely as it was so hot, getting into a lovely clean crisp cool bed was heaven. Air conditioning kept the room lovely and cool during the hot, hot nights. Wonderful views over harbour, city and mountains from the roof terrace. Staff are lovely and helpful. Breakfast is the usual, cheese, meats, olives,... more

Stayed Friday to Sunday. Great location and as previous reviewers have said, ask for a third floor room (lift available) as the views over harbour are worth it. Good central location. Room clean and tidy although a damp patch in the bathroom. Breakfast not my "cup of tea" but as again previously stated, ample tea / coffee / meats / cheeses / olives ETC. Everything you would expect form a Turkish breakfast. Also try the roof top bar area, again great views. Would I return? Perhaps for a night.... more

The two best things about this hotel are the location, overlooking the harbour in Kyrenia and the really kind and friendly staff. It is a small hotel, only 18 rooms, which I prefer as you get a much more personal service. On the negative side, it could do with some updating, there is some peeling wallpaper in some rooms and it would benefit from rewiring but everything in my room worked and the hotel was scrupulously clean. If you are looking for 4 star luxury then this hotel is not for you but... more

I don't understand how this hotel got good review from customers. This hotel is only good for location, because it is situated right next to the Marina where are many bars and restaurants. It is also walking distance for most attractions and Kyrenia castle, nice to visit. My room, at third floor and so more expensive, was the most dirty room I never see. There are many good things to say about the British Hotel, it's proximity to the old harbour and lots of restaurants (we particularly liked Niazi's and the Lagoon restaurants). It has very good views especially from the top two floors and the roof terrace. It is good if you prefer a smaller hotel with friendly and helpful staff and language was no problem. I haven't been back from my holiday for very long but had to share the experience we had at the British Hotel, Kyrenia. I honestly have never stayed somewhere with such stunning surroundings! My partner and I loved the idea of the exclusivity of a boutique hotel and the British Hotel didn't disappoint. Being small and fairly reasonable we knew that it wouldn't be film star quality but it really was everything we expected and perhaps more.We never felt crowded at the hotel and really felt like we were truly somewhere else. We chose this hotel for the location and view, which was spot on. Our particular bedroom had a great view and was very spacious and tastefully decorated, I think the room must have been recently refurbished. The beds and cushions were of a good standard and were exceptionally comfortable.
