Ship Inn Hotel Review - 7 of 40 Reviews

We recently returned from a trip to North Cyprus, where we stayed at the Ship Inn Hotel. This was our second holiday to this lovely place and because we'd had such a wonderful time last year, we chose to stay at the Ship Inn a second time.

The price was right and the rooms were impeccably clean and very comfortable. The décor was unique in that it sports an old English look and feel. It reminds one of an English estate plunked down into the middle of a mediterranean seaside town. The grounds were well-maintained and lovely to look at. The gardens were lush and full, and the native foliage was magnificent. We paid a little extra for a room with a view and I couldn't stop looking at the awe-inspiring northern cyprus mountains right outside our window. It was like being in paradise!

The staff was helpful and friendly, and were quick to suggest places of interest we might want to visit. They even gave us a good deal on a car reservation because it was our second visit there. We ate at the hotel dining room several times and were always impressed with the food and with the service. The staff was courteous and attentive, the food was always fresh, and the menu had a large variety of options from which to choose at the Ship Inn Hotel.

The only disappointing factor was the lack of quality evening entertainment at the hotel. The first time we stayed at the Ship Inn, the nightlife was superb, so naturally we expected the same this year. Instead we were treated to second-rate entertainment. Most nights, we listened to poor-quality singers and watched a belly dancer who obviously couldn't wait to finish up and go home. This caused us to turn in early most evenings, when otherwise we would have spent more time enjoying the nightlife.

Sadly, the hotel management didn't seem to notice that their patrons weren't happy with the quality of the performers, so they did nothing about it. I'd suggest to whoever is responsible for booking the evening's entertainment that they need to do some shopping around in the future and find some better performers! Other than the disappointing nightlife, everything else about the Ship Inn was wonderful, just as it was the first time, and provided they book better performers in the future, I'm sure we'll be back again!
