Hideaway Club Hotel Review - 21 of 42 Reviews

The Hideaway Club resort is an oasis in a desert of noisy, overcrowded family hotels. As the name suggests it's just off the beaten track outside of Kyrenia proper in the nearby hills. They have a strict no under-12s policy and whilst this acts as an unfortunate exclusion of families with younger children the difference in atmosphere and noise levels is incredible. To be quite honest, we're not sure if we ever want to visit a family hotel again. We don't dislike children at all, having had three of our own, but the value of peace and quiet cannot be overstated when you're on holiday.

As a suggested hotel from gonorthcyprus.com we weren't entirely sure what to expect, however it turned out as booking agents go, they were bang on the money! We enjoyed the premises so thoroughly that it proved a bit of a struggle to tear ourselves away from the place to really get a feel for the local area itself. We were pleasantly surprised, however when we managed to do so. In a taxi it took us around 10-15 minutes to get into Kyrenia and to the harbour there, which is beautiful and the castle (called Hilarion Castle I believe) is a real sight to behold (and has some historical significance if you're into that kind of thing). By day 4 we were eating nearly all of our meals in and around the harbour area because there was so much fantastic food available there and we didn't want to miss out. The hotel, to its credit, did put on a very enjoyable breakfast and on the odd occasion we had lunch there too it was rather nice.

We chose to avoid the VIP suites for our stay (which is likely to have been the first of many) as we didn't anticipate wanting to spend so much time inside the resort. The economy rooms are more than satisfactory considering the price- ours had a surprisingly large bedroom and bathroom and I believe most if not all of them come with a balcony as standard. In fact, most mornings this is where we enjoyed our breakfast which is a very nice touch on the part of the management.
