Alkan Hotel Review - 4 of 15 Reviews

My husband and I stayed at the Alkan Hotel for about a week when we went to North Cyprus to visit friends. We loved the place! It was small and out of the way, which we prefer, and was designed in apartment style bungalows, rather than motel rooms. Ours was very spacious and included a separate kitchen, veranda and upstairs bedroom with screened windows that we kept open at night so we could enjoy the sound of the surf.

The hotel is located across the street from the ocean, within viewing distance of our upstairs bedroom and easy to get to for swimming or sunbathing. At night, there was very little traffic on the main road so we weren't bothered by street noises and it made listening to the ocean waves a relaxing way to help us fall asleep.

The Alkan hotel also has a nice pool, which we used some, and a very good restaurant. Our package deal included breakfast each morning at the hotel's restaurant, the Turtle Beach. The food was delicious and prepared to our liking.

The nearby North Cyprus town of Kyrenia is a good 30 minutes away by car but it's a beautiful drive and if you want to sightsee, it's ideal for that. We ate dinner in town some nights, but often we ate at the hotel's restaurant, as the food available for the evening meal was as delicious as the breakfasts were and the staff goes to the extra trouble of making sure it's cooked the way you want it.

The best part about the Alkan Hotel is that it's reasonably priced and not crowded. We don't like touristy hotels; instead we prefer small local places like this one, a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the out-of-the-way drive. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting some relaxation without a lot of noise or other distractions and we'll be back to north cyprus soon!
